Please, keep doing the roodeh deraazee that I love.  Excuse my expression.  About the Degardeesee of language I can absolutely believe in what you mentioned about the name Bahraam.  Words and names in language change like living things that adapt to the rising of new circumstances.  We are fortunate that despite inheriting a history filled with upheavals and occupations, we still have plenty of sources that can be studied in order to enrich our culture.  Indeed, this rich history is the very source that has bestowed a resilient identity to us.  Good luck with your studies.

you're welcome.I have read all Dr mashkoor's books,he is a great writer,Iranologist.Unfortunately his books are among my 3500 book liberary, which is gathering dust in beloved Iran, couldn't bring them with me.Those books were like my children & miss them a lot.

about the Farsi proper nouns, you're absolutely right, let me tell you about a paper I wrote back in college days at Tehran university.

As you might know Dr Raashed mohassel is the greatest Iranian authority on Avasta language at the present time ( he worked with Prof Humbach in Gutingen university on Avastan texts) & his book on Avasta language learning is a reference.I had a course on Avesta language with him in Grad school,he asked everybody to write a papr.I asked him to give me a challenging subject & believe me he did.The subject was Bahram, A mythical God.Anyhow I worked for that paper for a long time & he was so happy that he printed it in one of the periodicals.Anyhow" roodeh deraazi kardam".Can you believe that the Avastan form of the name Bahram is " Varsarghaneh"!?,later Varahram, then Vahram & now Bahram.Amazing!isn't it!?

best wishes

I very much was after the meanings of Iranian names as I was taking a huge interest in Iranian history before Islam.  Somewhere I read the meaning of Manouchehr in one of the works of Mohammad Javaad Mashkoor.  Then even after I took a course in Old Persian and even read seventy lines of Beestoon inscript, I could find not of the things that I was looking for.  I dearly appreciated these selectively to the point links that you give.  I will definitely follow up with that.  One of the beauties of our culture is that all our names have certain meanings, however, with the passage of time they have become more refined and smoothed out in tone and utterance. For Souri, I posted the English account of this poem, though I like the Persian one better.

Again thank you

Dear Manoucher !

I know you definitely know this & really suits you well, but this is for poeple who enjoy your poems, especially the one before this called " Giyaahe mehr"

گیاه مهر اگر روید ز خاک عاشق چهری،

وگر پرسند نامش را "منو" با "چهر" خواهم گفت

Manuchehr or Manouchehr (Manūchehr, Old Persian: Manōčihr, Avestan: Manuščiθra) is a Persian male given name meaning heaven's face. It consists of two parts Manu (Manou) which means heaven in old Persian language and Chehr which means face.

I have to look for the English poem about the incident, however that poem is not a translation of the Fasi one that you have seen already.  I have to find it among my papers first.  When it appears on Iranian.com it will carry the tittle: "Wrath of Mother Sea".  Please, give me the time.  I appreciate your interest and oppinion.

The English version please...

Manouchehr jaan, could you please post the English version of this poem too ?

If it's too long, just copy this same partition.

I loved that one and want to send it for friends who don't read in Persian.

Thanks.
