As so many keep suggesting, Why does Iran need to become culturally Westernized? Iran is an Eastern country.
Iran's culture, its value system, and its people are all Eastern. Every culture has its failings, but the last time I checked the things represented in the photo are distinctly Western. And yes, they are prevalent in Western society to the point that if you go on many other websites and chat-rooms you can see clearly that people in the West are saying, "I don't want Hollywood's garbage culture to influence my children." (Actual quote.)
If Eastern culture is so bad, why are so many people on this site clamoring to be readmitted to Iran, which has Mosques in every city?
And as far as history goes, Kurosh Kabir was also Eastern. Whether you like it or not, his outward physical appearance more closely resembled Iran's leaders than Israel's.
And Kurosh Kabir, during his era, said let the Jews of Babylon (not the Zionists of Europe) return to the Holy Land.
Kurosh Kabir never stated "kill and ethnically cleanse the Palestinians."
The notion that Iranians are to accept all things Western as "good" and all things "Eastern" as bad, is a faulty one. Without the East, the West would not have the building blocks of society.
Was Western culture good for the Native Americans?
Has Western culture good for the health and well-being of families where many people are alienated from their loved ones and ditch their grandparents and children?
Was Western culture good for the African Americans, who after escaping slavery, still live in ghettos in every major city of America?
Did you know incidence of rape in the US and Israel are astronomically higher than in Iran (as reported by the US government)?
Did you know that the rate of transmission of STDs is astronomically higher in the US than in Iran?
Let's put aside this fallacy of the West automatically being superior to the East.

you just don't get!
by MRX on Tue Sep 11, 2012 08:46 AM PDTlitteraly and physically I am guessing. No one is talking about bringing hollywood to Iran. we have plenty of bad movies and bad movie makers ourself which explains why no one really watches that garbage!
I am talking about resurecting Iranian values and culture not a sheikh o omati culture forced on us by the occupiers. As for the hatered for jews ( you seem to be obsessed with them) that is another by product of the occupier culture becuase Iranains never did or have any issues with Jews.
Hollywood not Greek owned - Issue isn't why we live in the West
by MaryamJoon on Tue Sep 11, 2012 08:35 AM PDT... it's why you want to bring Western (Israeli) values to Iran (an ancient Eastern country with Eastern values).
Even your statement admits cultural differences exist

by MRX on Tue Sep 11, 2012 08:26 AM PDTwhat the f* is eastern culture verses verses culture shit? we are an occupied nation. our culture has been supressed and buried undreneath of occupier culture called islam. Currently we are people with half ass identity and shiekh o omati culture. I suspect you and your ilks like this shiekh o omati culture and status quo. what I don't underestand is why you folks keep living in west? why not move and live in that great eastern culture, what ever that is!
The God Delusion
by persian pit bull on Mon Sep 10, 2012 08:50 PM PDTThere is no western or eastern culture. Only freedom to choose a culture as long as u don't hurt anyone physically or mentally
The depictions u present here may not be pleasing to u or your comrades but it is a sign of freedom albeit a negative one?
Let the power of your ideas to win people to your way of life rather the size of your fist. Unfortunately Iranians do not have that choice. Ironically they might have very well chosen their current life style if they had been left to be free. Grass root ideas has a longer half life
The hijacking of Kurosh must end
by MaryamJoon on Mon Sep 10, 2012 06:03 AM PDTHe was an Eastern man with Eastern sensibilities; a devout and religious man; a man committed to Iran's territorial integrity; a man who favored peace but didn't fear war; a man who returned the Jews of Babylon to the Holy Land but never said kill the Philistines. The end of Kurosh's widespread influence on the Middle East and Central Asia can be traced to several points in history, including: the founding of Israel; the Ottoman Empire; British Colonialism; Ghenghis Khan's reign of terror, US imperialism, and Saudi fundamentalism.
