Several time during the presidential campaign trail, President Obama was critical of USA arrogance especially on it’s international affairs. I don’t know about you, but I think Obama’s latest plea to the international community to grant the 2016 Olympics to his hometown of Chicago, despite the USA having hosted the Olympics twice in the last 25 years was quiet arrogant. No need to say the world, very much justifiably turned him down.

Insisting to chase an empty wagon is the wisdom of a fool. What is important to know is that we are better than Bush and Obama combined.

And Massoud jaan since you like cliches, go ahead make my day, start a threat on David Letterman; there is a long list of republican hall of shame to get busy with.
It's good you like Glenny. I'm happy for you!

by NOT_AK69 on Sat Oct 03, 2009 03:37 PM PDTIt is customary for the Mayor of the City to be the lead on these Olympic "city" selection matters, in the US. At times the Governor of the state leads, but never the President of the US who is not originally from Chicago. In fact, Peter Uberoff was the lead on the 1980 Olympics; Regan played no part as Governor or President.
But, if you can't deliver on what you promised the voters... a smoke screen is also effective.

Arrogant, racist, misogynist and Glen Beck's hemorrhoids
by Louie Louie on Sat Oct 03, 2009 10:04 AM PDTNews flash genius, actually Obama has been republican party's dream come true! He's been such an appeaser to republicans and you people should be very happy about it.
Comparing Obama with khomeini? Hmm! Last time I checked in your party's book, the age of earth was 5000 years old and kids kept dinosaurs as their pets. Oh Jane, you ignorant slut!
Justice sodomizingayour you said? Well, whatever happened to that Vaselin avatar of yours. And thank god for the republican party with the idea of TEABAGGING ;o)
I hope there is such thing as karma and you come back as a wolf born in Alaska.
Have a nice voodoo practice with Sarah Palin.
In the name of Jesas, in the name of Jesas heal Glen Beck's hemorrhoids!
Why do you PC Lefties Always Compare Obama to Bush?
by NOT_AK69 on Sat Oct 03, 2009 07:55 AM PDTDo you really need a scale that low to judge the prophet Obama on so he looks good in comparisson? Bush was the second worst US president, is Obama shooting to be number 1.
Great news ignorant lefties, Justice Sodimizingmayour starts her on the job training on Monday! (Obama picked her only becuase she is a Spanish Woman; not that she is actually qualified for the bench).

1904 Summer Olympic Games, St. Louis, Missouri
1980 Winter Olympic Games, Lake Placid, NY
1984 Summer Olympic Games, LA, CA
1996 Summer Olympic Games, Altanta, Georgia
2002 Winter Olympic Games, Salt Lake City, Utah
I watched the 4 Games out of 5. I understand that Obama wanted to stimulate the economy and tourism.......US does have more Olympic Games than any other countries on this planet........G W Bush is way more arrogant.
Thanks for the blog, it makes us think.
Unfortunately...
by HollyUSA on Fri Oct 02, 2009 11:57 PM PDTObama said many things during the presidential campaign trail that he's not following through with. On this particular topic, it didn't strike me so much as arrogant as it did frivolous and irresponsible given everything else at hand he needs to focus on. I for one, am disappointed in him.

Obama's not to blame
by IRANdokht on Fri Oct 02, 2009 07:45 PM PDTHe's only trying to bring in some much needed revenue to his home state. Why wouldn't he? I rooted for Rio because it was about time South America would host such event, but how can we blame Obama for wanting a little positive light to a region that's been hurt by the fallen economy, and create some excitement, new jobs and revenue for a state that he represented in the Senate?
IRANdokht
U talking to me?
by masoudA on Fri Oct 02, 2009 07:04 PM PDTDear Abarmard -
I think I understand arrogance - do you? do you have a better word to describe it? After having hosted the Olympics twice in the last 25 years - what does it take to ask for it again? Especialy knowing the much deserving South America has never had a chance to host the Olympics? Besides - Arrogant is what Obama described American behavior in the past!!! get the hypocracy?
