Dostan e Iran Dost
by Analyzer (not verified) on Fri Jun 05, 2009 10:32 PM PDTAssume: Iran beat NKorea & UAE and looses to Skorea
S Arabia looses to SKorea beat NKorea
SKorea wins all 3 games
Game 6 Game 7 Game 8
S. Korea 14 17 20
N. Korea 10 10 10
S Arabia 10 10 13
I r a n 09 12 12 Iran 3rd
U A E 01 01 01
Note that even if Iran tie with SKorea get 13 pts and still will be 3rd since they lost To SArabia.
If iran Ties with NKorea beat UAE then she must at least tie with SKorea to get 11 points total and SArabia must beat Nkorea. In this case Iran and NKorea both will have 11 points but Iran will be 3rd since they beat NKorea at home.
So the way it looks the best iran can do is 3rd place.
I hope my math is right.

National pride is the key word
by Anonymous-Aria (not verified) on Fri Jun 05, 2009 08:46 AM PDTSaudis have national pride which is very important in sport. They are Arabs from the race(all of them), their language is Arabic and their religion is Arabic too. How about us Iranians? Our language is a mixture of Arabic, turkic.... and Persian, our religion is a mixture of arabic and turkic religions(shia), and our nation is a mixture of many different origins, a mixture of Iranians and non-iranians. Now ask yourself this question, can our national team plays with national pride when we have so many non-iranian elements in our land, the so called na-khalesee?

Danger
by Abarmard on Fri Jun 05, 2009 07:16 AM PDTThe danger sign is that Saudi Arabia is showing strength. They beat China easily and seem confident. This creates extra pressure for us.
I have no doubt that we have the talent to win all the games and will wait until tomorrow to see if any changes in the team has taken place. My criticism of the team is their lack of strength and speed. They can't run (like the Saudis) for 90 minutes and give up quickly.
If Iran can win, it will be 2-1

And the answer to your question, unfortunately, is: NO!
N.Korea or s.arabia must lose or draw one match,,, But the good thing is that it will happen! I call it straategi-e jadval; take a good look at the links (standings & matches)...

Be positive...
KouroshS
by Mehman on Thu Jun 04, 2009 09:52 PM PDTDo not be deceived by the 1-0 lost to China dear friend...
I was actually happy about that lost! Let me explain this to you from my 30 years of experience in watching football(soccer):
There is a very important factor which I call the psychology of successive games, and that is if a potentially good team does not win (in an important match) for some consecutive games it must win in one game unexpectedly! forget about the Indonesia game which was really a non-important game, Iran has been doing bad for several important games and everyone (especially the Koreans) think Iran is going to loose this game due to the past 4 serious games it had... That is exaclty where they are going to be trapped...
There is another factor: Ghotbi has done it very cleverly towards China, he didn't show his real arrangement of players and his real strategy for the Korea game, in a way he deceived them...
Also, Karimi, Khosrow sth and Masoud Shojai did not play with China. Plus he is going to change the defenders who did poorly against China.
All these factors together can create a surprise in favour of Iran, even though as I said before the overall odds are in favour of N. Korea: They have the game at home and they have more self-confidence than Iran plus this year they do have a really good team.
The only thing that we can do is to ask His Holiness The(Iranian.com) Pope to make some special prayers for our victory!
Your Holiness, The Pope
by Mehman on Thu Jun 04, 2009 09:53 PM PDTThanks for the links to the table, what I understand (though I am not sure) is that yes with 7 points out of the 3 remaining games we will qualify second rank (Am I right? no matter what happens to the other teams?)
PS: Eltemasseh prayer dear Pope for our victory!
Mehman
by KouroshS on Thu Jun 04, 2009 09:14 PM PDTWe may have better potential and talents than the koreans, but it is all the mistakes and unnecessary errors that we keep on making. I don't know if you saw the highlights of the china game but they scored their only goal the same exact way that the South koreans scored their equalizer in tehran a few months ago... That means we have not yet learned our lessons.
They got their hopes up when they bamboozled Indonesia, and let their guards down against China. Such is the mentality of our beloved team melli.
Wish them the best.
Arabs will lose in Seoul...

We need to win this game!
by Mehman on Thu Jun 04, 2009 07:32 PM PDTKouroshS
I haven't looked at the table exactly, but they say if we gain 7 points out of the next 3 matches we will qualify automatically as the second team for the World Cup. If you guys find a link to the table of points please post it here.
So if we win N. Korea (very tough) and Emarate (easy) and get a tie with S. Korea (feasible) we should qualify as the second team of the group, however, we should check the table.
N. Korea knows that they MUST win this game to qualify, if they do so they are in the World Cup! That is what makes the job very hard for Iran... But Iran's potentials of football class is higher than N. Korea...
