Ali jan,
by Midwesty on Fri Mar 21, 2008 08:05 AM PDTGlad you liked it. You know cyber conversing is a tricky business. Usually I am afraid I say something and it translates to something else. Glad you liked it. That verse was also one of my all time favorites. First time I heard it, it was in one of Iraj Bastami's song. God bless his soul he died in Bam earthquake in the Arg. He had a very warm voice. They used to say he was the future Ostaad Shajarian. //www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGP4J5mpvl8

Eid-e hamegee mobarak
by Anonymouse on Fri Mar 21, 2008 06:42 AM PDTI remember one time there we were talking to this poor guy on a street corner near some shopping and my uncle gave him some money telling him eid-et mobarak. He responded by saying thank you, eid chiyeh agha? Ma eid o azamoon yekiyeh. My uncle said eidet mobarak azat be doure. He said khoda az dahanet beshnaveh peer shee.
Eid is a new day for everyone. A day of hope. Everyone can hope in this day even if it is for a moment.

Happy Norooz to YOU
by xerxes-7 (not verified) on Fri Mar 21, 2008 12:09 AM PDTHappy Norooz, my cyber-gift to my very dear fellow iranians:
//youtube.com/watch?v=OojsLDYr7RY&mode=relate...
It may not be a perfect situation for some of us or even worse a very tough one: not having a good health, having old relatives with no help in Iran, being under finanncial pressure,...
However, it is Norooz: a NEW day. Beginning of spring when old nature once again comes alive.
Let's make a promise to ourselves that we will make 1387 a better year for ourselves and our family. We will touch the lives of dear ones with love and care. We will help one person that we do not know with an act of kindness.
Har Roozeton Norooz, Noroozeton Pirooz.
You are the sliver of blue
by Anonymousk (not verified) on Thu Mar 20, 2008 11:35 PM PDTYou are
the sliver of blue behind the grey
the yellow stripe on the crocus
the pungent plum tree blossoms
the insistent call of the plump chickadee
the arching green tulip leaves
Today,
I whisper prayers of gratitude
to Spring
as she awakens
and brings
you
For YOU and your compassionate heart, MIDWESTY. This is what Norooz is all about.
May we all have a blessed year where kindness and compassion become part of daily lives.

You would'nt imagine how embarrassed it makes me to say that mine is past the "white kapak" stage and graduated into a dark stinky mess... I am not kidding!!!
My sabzeh looks like it's 14th already and I was contemplating throwing it out tonight and starting a new batch to show off and brag at 13bedar

PS: if you learn how to make it, please email me the instructions for next year! sooner or later I HAVE to learn how to make sabzeh...
