My Legacy

My Legacy
by Natalia Alvarado-Alvarez
15-Jul-2008

As I sat in the  meadow.

I heard the robin sing.

I saw the willow tree  swaying in the wind.

A slightly cloudy day.

                                        My legacy………

A gentle and peaceful  day.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

I could smell the flowers scent.

I could hear  the children’s voices as they played.

                                            My legacy………….

I used to take it all for granted.

Now, everything seemed so new.

Much better than before.

How could I haved missed so much before?

                                           My legacy…………….

As I momentarily looked back.

I recalled that tragic day.

As I almost drew my last breath.

In that dark and empty room.

                                          My legacy…………..

It is but a distant memory now.

Amazed at how close, I came to death that day.

Yet I always wondered,

Why was my life spared?

                                            My legacy……………….

From that moment on

Every breath,

Every day,

Would have great meaning.

                                          My legacy……………….

What would be my legacy?

How would they remember me?

 A  life of purpose.

“Good thoughts…….good words……….good deeds.”

                                           My legacy……………………..

With what you revealed to Rosie, you are many, many, many times more "khaleh zanak" than I am :Q)

I have corrected your previous comment as per your request

I read your latest article. Very well written and thought out. I never was able to find that poem on that old house. Alas! I will continue to search. Maybe some day, I will find this old house

You are proving a point here Mazloom:
the Iranian men are more "khaleh zanak" than Iranian women.

My original comment was:
Bad!
Not bad!
Not bad at all!

Since then my feelings have changed. Now my comment is:
Bad!
Too bad!
So sad!

I agree on the too much drama..........

by Nadias on

It is why I have decided to limit the amount of comments that I post on other people's blogs. I am now more focused on my personal goals.

I also disabled my contact button. :o)

You are correct, I am not her mother. I already have my hands full with two beautiful teenage boys. :o)

On the reposted comments: On this website many feel that they should not be deleted. I know what you are going to say "Who cares!"

On the what else do I save? Have you heard of that idiom "Never kiss and tell?" Well, similar principle. :o)

Best,

PS: Thank you for the compliment on my poem. :o)

There are a few things wrong with this blog and none of them is about the poem itself: your poem is simply beautiful.

When you write a poem and blog it on a public website, you are only responsible for the content of what you wrote. If someone comments on it, they are responsible for their own entries.
When you delete your blog to protect the ones who have not been discrete, you start resenting them for destroying your beautiful blog subconsciously and who can blame you?

Stop protecting people! you're not their mother! if they want to reveal personal info on this site or anywhere else, let them! Not your problem!

Like you said in another comment: life is about choices: choose to feel responsible for your own actions. You'll avoid those negative feelings that creep up later on and save yourself a lot of headache.

Reposting the blog itself is one thing, reposting all those comments is absolutely ridiculous! if the people want to comment on it again, they will, even if they had before.

Why are you dragging stuff from the deleted past and even more important than that: how and where did you save all this? what else do you save??

again:

1- beautiful poem
2- too much drama

I had to delete it

by Nadias on

On the  thread of the original posting of this poem she disclosed fully her very personal and current information on the matter that she keeps discussing over and over again on the website. To protect her, I deleted the poem.

However, I did not feel that it was fair that it should be permanently deleted. Simply because she chose to make a very detailed, lengthy account of her very personal current situation in a public forum.

On the comments:

I value all the comments left by those who read what I write. I have learned how important each and every comment is. It is why I reposted the comments.

peace and prosperity

Why?

Why are you reposting an old blog?  And why repost the old comments?

It was very good, Alvarez, very good. By FAR the best poem

you've ever written.  If you don't mind my saying so, and I know you don't, it was actually the first poem of yours I've ever seen (and needless to say I haven't seen them all, especially due to my three month's absence) that actually really IS a poem...
