SweetPea is finally going Commando! No, not like Brooke Shields in those Calvin Klein ads (remember, nothing comes between me and my Calvins?) Rather, he is finally going without diapers! Woo-Hooooo. For most of you non-parents out there, I can totally see your eyes rolling, omg, another dumb post by Tehranchi about her son. 100% right. This is one of those mundane things to most of the population, but I know that for some of you parents out there who have struggled or are struggling right now with potty training your toddler(s), you could relate to this.
Oh my god, I have to tell you this even if it is so gross. Nothing I have ever achieved in my life, whether at school, or my profession, or my personal life has filled me with the amount of pride I felt that very first time when I heard the PLOP of a little brown turd hitting the water at the bottom of the toilet bowl and SweetPea's eyes bulging out and mouth forming a big O of half surprise/half horror like Mr. Furley used to do on Three's Company when he overheard some qui pro quo from Jack and Janet. The love and elation I felt on my wedding day? Nothing cmpared to PLOP. That time I argued in front of the Federal Court of Appeals? PLOP wins out easily. My graduation day? I will take one PLOP and a TINKLE TINKLE any day.
And this is not even my achievement. I am just living vicariously through what is really SweetPea's own successful transition into yet another phase of his development. Maaaan, though I am so happy to see him take these tiny steps towards independence and self-sufficiency, I am also so nostalgic that he is already not needing me that much anymore, like when he was a baby. That's why I am kind of looking forward to the LadyBug, our new addition to the family, joining us in April. I am going to savor those helpless, toothless, diaper-full days to the max!

This is a good point
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Mon Mar 01, 2010 02:07 PM PSTWith stars like Amy Adams and Stiller, who needs Brits to annoy the public. I agree that Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are the highlight to look forward to. I haven't seen any of the movies. I'm stuck in 1999... the good old days!
Quintuplets!
by Niki Tehranchi on Mon Mar 01, 2010 01:51 PM PSTMouse, all I have to say is:
BEMIRAM BARASHOON!
Truly, they are soooo cute. I'm sorry, I can't resist pictures of cute babies and these quintuplets are to die for. I don't know how their parents will handle it though. My in-laws had preemie twins and I have heard from them how tough it was though at the same time a real joy. I think when you are living it, you don't have time to stop and think, how the heck am I going to handle this? You just keep on trucking. I wish them all the luck!
Live Oscar Blog
by Niki Tehranchi on Mon Mar 01, 2010 01:48 PM PSTHey Marge, that is a good idea. I will try my best. Though I have to confess I am really not that much up on the Oscar films. I refuse to see Avatar, looks like one big blue headache to me lol. I loved the Smurfs when I was growing up and I think one blue imaginary tribe is enough for one lifetime. I will comment on the award show itself, which is so much fun by itself, even if you haven't seen most of the movies. Especially with Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin co-hosting, they are both hilarious. I don't know about the British invasion thing. I have no problem with it really. The actress of the moment who really annoys me (I mean really really really nails on the chalkboard annoying) is America's newest sweetheart Amy Adams: BARF! And I have already made my feelings known about Ben Stiller and his crew: Triple BARF!!!

Everything is sacred.
This years Oscar is ALL Avatar ALL d time! Like Lord of d rings!
by Anonymouse on Mon Mar 01, 2010 12:34 PM PSTThat year that Lord of the rings swept the Oscars, Joan River was commenting that ogh; lord o the rings, low o the rings, OGH!
Everything is sacred.
A small request
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Mon Mar 01, 2010 12:18 PM PSTWill you please do a live blog of the Oscars? Let me just say this too: I am so sick of these British invaders coming to Hollywood. I can't stand Brad Pitt acting alongside that Kate/CATE (C?!?!?!?!) Blanchetee. I feel like we are losing Hollywood to the British now. I wish Brad would stop taking jobs with British co actors. Liam Neeson and Kate Winslet are where I draw the line. What are your thoughts? I realize this is a little extreme, but it seems like we don't have American hollywood. What is going on in LA these days? There will be blood was another example of what I'm saying.
Dear Captn you have been through it all so you know!
by Niki Tehranchi on Mon Mar 01, 2010 11:20 AM PSTI remember the very beautiful comment you left on of my earlier blogs about the terrible twos. May the biggest "problems" we ever have as parents are those "mundane" things such as tantrums, potty training, talking back teenagers, or leaving the nest to move far away to college. Whenever I feel stressed out, I remember to take a deep breath, look at the big picture and thank god that we have our health and our love for each other, it's better than a sword and armor to face the little bumps in the road of life. Congratulations to you for reaching the end of one journey and beginning another one. I for one can't wait to be a grandma someday!!!
Proud Mother!
by capt_ayhab on Mon Mar 01, 2010 08:21 AM PSTAs a parent and hopefully soon to be grand papa, every step, accomplishment the children take, from first word they utter, to Med school graduation on top 1%, pride and joy fills the hearts and souls of parents.
One thing though Mrs. Tehranchi, your problems are JUST beginning. I wish you perseverance and patience for rest of you life. ;-)

Living and Dying by someone else's bowel movements
by Niki Tehranchi on Sun Feb 28, 2010 04:54 PM PSTYou are right Midwesty, when I was single, i was clueless that my life was one day going to hinge on some tiny creature 's bowel movements!!!
Let's review this together....
by Midwesty on Sun Feb 28, 2010 03:58 PM PSTyou wrote a blog about your son's poh, more than that you are proud of it...don't you think there are many clueless singles out there that have no idea what it means. If it wasn't for the first night after my son's birth I would cross your blog right off.
After 17 hours in labor, we got to see the pumpkin but they didn't let us leave until they witness his gracious first pee. So here we are, exhausted, and nervous, praying to the god in all faiths and dialects, to honor us with his liquid gold.
The time he peed, was the happiest time in my life.
Congratulations!
A big compliment from Marge,
