Free speech
by Jahanshah Javid on Wed Sep 30, 2009 11:49 AM PDTAK69, you have to know when and where to exercise free speech.
You cannot yell "fire" in a packed movie theater based on the principal of free speech.
You cannot disturb the silence in a library.
You cannot express yourself whenever you like in a classroom.
You cannot enter your neighbor's house uninvited and say whatever you like.
In the same light, you cannot use profanity or viciously attack others in your comments below features in iranian.com.

JJ You're A Good Sport But,
by NOT_AK69 on Wed Sep 30, 2009 07:58 AM PDTI am afraid you miss the point on this one: "Let readers see what brilliant insight was shamelessly removed"
It doesn't matter if the comment was "brilliant" or as I put it "Foul & Profane". IMHO, what matters is the principle at stake, my friend. I give you credit for this though, you have let me push the envelope from day 1 with only limited censorship. So, this site is no more or less “restricted/restrictive” than the majority of other websites. But, I expect more for Iranian.com, especially in this age of revolution which gained wings and flew on the Internet. See, if this site wasn’t called Iranian.com, I would give a rats ass or waste a minute here pushing envelopes or anything else for that matter.
I think you, JJ, if you are a patriot for a free Iran in your heart, then you have a greater responsibility to ensure that the name Iranian.com stands for what is right, democratically speaking of course, not only in words (Nothing is Sacred) but actions (as in the administration and overall theme of this site - Freedom).
"The only valid censorship of ideas is the right of people not to listen." ~T. Smothers

by Jahanshah Javid on Tue Sep 29, 2009 04:06 PM PDTNext time your free speech is violated on this site (I assume you are referring to comments being deleted), write a blog and show everyone what got deleted. Let readers see what brilliant insight was shamelessly removed :o)
