Today would have been my dad Charles Schroeder's 101st birthday, RIP, or as he would have preferred, "live in peace." He passed away peacefully last November. I happened to be in Isfahan at the time, which was a privilege that I had been looking forward to for many years, and hope to return to Iran soon. I want to say a special "thank you" here to Jahanshah Javid who made space for our photos and essays here at the Iranian, and to everyone who has been supportive through the years.
Links to his 450 Iranian photos (now available through the VIA visual information access database at Harvard) as well as past issues of Abadan Today and other documents are gathered at our Abadan in the 50s page, //www.commoncoordinates.com/AbadanInThe50s
Thanks again to everyone, Paul S.

Creator of Forever mine....it really touched my heart
by Siavash300 on Tue Mar 20, 2012 01:27 AM PDTDear Paul,
I am surprised and so pleased to see your name here on I.C.
I was obssessed by one of your movies "forever mine". I watched the movie more than 10 times over the years. Coincidently, I became acquinted with the mother of one of the actor in the movie by the name of Puala. She said she was the mother of that thug in the movie. I talked online to the son as well. I asked him about you back then.
I memorized all those poetic versus you put in the movie. In fact, once I used your sentimental lines in the love letter to my girl friend who used to live in Netherland. She didn't know I took it from your movie script. I wish you could tell me how you came up with such a lovely romantic sentenses.
Now, by knowing that you have been in Iran, I think you might have come across Hafez or Khayaam poems or they might have been source of inspiration for that movie maniscript. It was really touchy.
Sorry for your father. R.I.P
Sincerely,
Siavash
So sorry to hear this Paul ...

May your father RIP !
I thought Paul had posted Abadan pictures not his father.
by Esfand Aashena on Fri Mar 16, 2012 08:16 AM PDTIf it was his father then in addition to Paul himself WE will also cherish his good memories.

The American who immortalized Abadan
by Jahanshah Javid on Fri Mar 16, 2012 08:12 AM PDTI'm very sorry to hear about your father's passing Paul. His photographs of Abadan will always and forever bring many happy memories to those who were born there. His simple act of archiving the lives of people and expats in that remote part of the world has left a deep impact. Thank you Paul for introducing your father to us. May he rest in peace.
My condolences.
