Spock & Reincarnation

Spock & Reincarnation
by PedramMoallemian

Somebody was once trying to explain reincarnation to me and just went a bit too far into details. Let me tell you, the worst thing you can do with me on something you have no physical proof on or can’t let me touch, smell and bite into, is going into too much detail.

What usually happens is my Mr. Spock side comes out and I become the most rational and logical person on earth, with little room for wiggling any emotional or unreasonable explanation out of the conversation. And that’s exactly what happened.

So, years later, I still have some unanswered questions she couldn’t explain and I am hoping one of you can. Please forward your answers as a comment here or directly by email. I really want to know:

Okay, I get it that all beings have a soul and once you die that soul is transferred into another being, which could be another species or even life form. But…

• Are the number of “souls” available limited or there are infinite numbers out there somewhere?
• What if there aren’t enough “bodies” available?
• Do these waiting souls sit somewhere (maybe a galactic warehouse or similar) waiting for someone or something to die?
• If the numbers are limited, will there ever be a shortage while we wait for new souls to become available?
• In that last scenario, will all new life stop reproduction or we will just have a bunch of zombies who are around while awaiting souls?
• Is there a procedure if you want out? How do you throw the towel in and say I’ve had enough, I don’t want another life as a tapeworm?

I’ll be waiting.

Not to sikh!

by ThePope on

Aaghaa Pedraam, I didn't get upsest but rather shocked when I saw you write:
"So, he was Indian AND a Sikh??!!". And believe me I was more than shocked because I had only said he was Indian and you put words in my mouth that he was a sikh!! Isn't it that like total blasphemy to call khomeini a sikh?!! :)lol Then you accused me for being absurd! Plus, you added more unjust "things" that had no connection with the subject at issue, so you were palying unfair. And now you're trying to explain yourself by "assuming" some different aspects... Anyway, like I said before it was just an observation and nothing important. Also, it's kind of irrelevant to your blog to continue this discussion. But thanx for trying (at least) to clarify "things" even if I still don't agree with your....

ps: Please beh rokh-e man nakesh If you spent some time in the 5 star "pouponniere" of evin , and from time to time you were called zir-e hasht to go "down" for a little bit of navaazesh on the bed with silklike electrical clables,,,,, cuz everyday I was dragged to setaad-e baalaa (if you have any idea were it is) interrogating room and being "questioned with extreme politeness and respect(!)" why I had the intention of killing(!!!) K... And by the way, I never watched Sesame Street but rather I watched "Alakazou" show (P.P. tv program)! :)

Good luck with your "search trek". (on reincarnation)

to sikh or not to sikh

by PedramMoallemian on

Dear "ThePope";

No point of getting so upset. We are here to exchange opinions, aren't we? If mine was not clear enough, here's some more info:

  1. Let's assume Khomeini was indeed Indian, why would he replace the Iranian national emblem with the Sikh symbol, unless he was in fact a Sikh? Why not any anther symbol, such as Jainism, Hinduism, Buddhist, etc? Picking a relative minority religion out of India's variety of beliefs sounds rather absured.
  2. If being Indian or of Indian ancestry is not somehow inferior, why don't you ever hear about Iranians who are of Russian, Polish, German and other western backgrounds? Is there a hierarchy that makes one a step down and another looked at as a step up?
  3. When I was in my "darling" Khomeini's Evin prison whom I have "no issue" with, tied to a bed and being beaten by an electrical cable, you were either not born yet or were sitting comfortably in your living room watching Sesame Street. Please do not assume what I know or do not. I respect your opinion and if disagree will give you mypoint of view. But if you want to go low enough to ignore my reminder that included "Khomeini (may he one day be held accountable for his crimes in death at least)", then you are playing unfair and you will get the same back.

Hope that clarifies things.

All the best to you, regardless of whether you choose to respond or not,

Pedram Moallemian, Los Angeles

WOW!

Asking "PedramMoallemian";

Who said he was a sikh??!! Aren't you a bit (too much) unreasonable? Read my comment again and tell me when/where/how did I ever said Khomeini "was a sikh" or "promoting sikhism"!!! Man you're hallucinating!

Or, where the hell did you come up with the idea that "...only because being Indian is somehow inferior to being "Persian" . " ??!!!!!!!!! Did I say that too, "being Indian is inferior to being Persian"?? Or its' just another of your imaginary perceptions???!! BAABAA TO DIGEH KI HASTI ???!! What I wrote down below is only an OBSERVATION. That's it.

And, as a matter of fact, "the sikh logo resembles SO MUCH the emblem of the IR regime!!!" Also, it's a historical fact that your darling khomeini (the Indian that you have no 'issues' with..)  "killed our sun & lion logo and replaced it with..."  That's all that I said, na bishtar na kamtar. Harf ham to dahaneh maa yeki nazaar,,, Ghorbooghet(!),,, baghalo begir namaali ! :)

OFTAAD? YA BAAZ HAM MIKHAAY BEBAAFI-O... BECHASBOONI ! Man,, you're unbelievable.

ps: ...And thank you for expressing your appreciation in a 'short note'...! Eventhough we were (I was) not helpful to answer your questions (or satisfy your curiosity) on "reincarnation"... -Sorry (also for commenting on your blog, my bad).

Disclaimer - I'm still

by PedramMoallemian on

Disclaimer - I'm still reading (some may say meditating on) other responses about reincarnation, including a very LONG email and may respond to that part of my post later.

Asking "The Pope";

So, he was Indian AND a Sikh??!! Isn't that a bit absured?

I have no issues with Khomeini (may he one day be held accountable for his crimes in death at least) being Indian or of Indian descent. Many Iranians are. Many Indians are also of Iranian backgrounds. I just don't see anything he believed in or his actions remotely promoting Sikhism.

I see it more likely as a case of the weasel who designed the logo stealing it (or at least the general idea) and getting away with it - somethig not that uncommon in arts - and some of us crying wolf again, only because being Indian is somehow inferior to being "Persian".

BTW

by ThePope on

The "neshaan-e saaheb", the Sikh logo (on the top right corner of the above pic), resembles SO MUCH the emblem of the IR regime!!! After all, Khomeini was an Indian himself...

So he killed our "sun&lion" logo and replaced it with... !!#*?!#!!!!!!!

Meditation

by ThePope on

will make you understand (answer some of your questions)... Only meditation (no matter what is your religion, faith, beliefs...!).

-You said: "...and I become the most rational and logical person..."
You can become the most logical person with a keen intellect but you will "...still have some unanswered questions..." It's a non-intellectual matter (questions). The heart has no question, yet it receives the answer. The mind has a thousand and one questions, yet it has never received any answer because it does not know how to receive.

Death is so 'powerful', but one thing it cannot take away from you, it's meditation. If you can become rooted in your being , alert , conscious , watchful, you will see that your are not the body, and you are not the mind. You are simply the witnessing soul, and witnessing will go with you. Then you can witness even DEATH,,,, which is only a change from one form into another form, and ultimately from form to formlessness. And that is the goal (because every form is kind of imprisonment...!)
And don't concern yourself with "life" after death; your whole concern should be life before death. Because, whatever you do with your life now will produce, as a consequence, your "life" after death.

Rosie T.

• Are the number of

by Rosie T. on

• Are the number of “souls” available limited or there are infinite numbers out there somewher

There is only one soul from which all beings emanate and to which they all return once they have passed through the lessons of the material universe.

• What if there aren’t enough “bodies” available?

There are always enough bodies available because the cosmology postulates an infinite number of worlds, very similar to the modern concept of the universe, endlessly generating, dying, being born again. Within this infinity there is always a body somewhere just for you, even if it's on alpha centauri, so don't worry, be happy.

• Do these waiting souls sit somewhere (maybe a galactic warehouse or similar) waiting for someone or something to die?

see above, no housing shortage of bodies.  sometimes they do wait but not for shortage of space. at the highest levels closest to nirvana the great masters--the arhats, the lamas- bide their time before they incarnate again. they choose who and when and where they can help out the most.

• If the numbers are limited, will there ever be a shortage while we wait for new souls to become available?

see above

• In that last scenario, will all new life stop reproduction or we will
just have a bunch of zombies who are around while awaiting souls?

see above

• Is there a procedure if you want out? How do you throw the towel in
and say I’ve had enough, I don’t want another life as a tapeworm?

There is no way out and there is no shortcut, you just have to live a life of good thoughts, good words, good deeds. Even if you don't like it.  If you're a decent tapeworm you will get promoted. Maybe to skunk. As a decent human, you will get promoted too.  You have to do very bad things to become a tapeworm. You sound decent. . So don't worry about tapeworms.

The only way out is to go through the time-consuming process and achieve reunion iwth the ONE soul. However most Buddhist traditons don't even have this out. Because just before they reach Nirvana in their great compassion the masters automatically choose rebirth until all sentient beings are happy. Everywhere. Including the tapeworms. But don't worry about the great masters, they are happy

And don't worry about yourself either. In a few gagillion years or so you will be a great master too if you keep up at this pace.. If you are rREALLY good and you train with the masters you can make enormous progress pretty quickly to become a master  but that requires great discipline and renunciation. Usually you have to become a monk. I understand Mazloom is well on his way.

Actually the only way you may get demoted to tapeworm, or amoeba, is if you keep on grumbling about wanting out...Avoid that. Stick to blogging.do some charity work...and meditate from time to time, which if you don't know how, basically means thinking about nothing.

So being on this website provides an excellent foundation...

Hope that helps.

Rosie

(PS This is a Buddhist perspective. Buddhism is a development of Hinduism, it covers all the bases better.  The problem may be you talked to too many Hindus--not to mention Vulcans-- and not enough Buddhists. Or Bejorans).
