israeli Arab obsession on Iranian.com

As a Socialist and internationalist I have great sympathy with sufferings of all oppressed people of the world. From people of Tibet and muslims under chinese occupation, to Muslim chechneans under Russian occupation to people of palistine under israel occupation, to unemployed european youth unable to find himself a job, the list goes on....

Having got that out of way, I also believe that charity begins at home. Putting it differently, it would be the height of hypocicy for me to turn a blind eye on my compatriots' sufferings back home under the islamist regime, let alone trying to justify it, yet loudly scream for the rights of people of palistine, accusing anyone who questions my approach as a "zionist" or "mossad agent".

This is precisely what is happening here on this site. People seem to be polatrised and characterised -by design or otherwise- along the lines of "pro palistine" and "pro israel". Blog after blog is devoted to arab israel issue, with some comments crossing well into domains of KKK, Nazi Germany and alike...

What a shame indeed! Whilst our compatriots back home are being mass executed on a daily basis by a bunch of fascitic , out of control islamist maniacs, whilst our country is facing an environmental disaster of such proportions which would affect generations of Iranians to come, whilst the arrogant and dangerous foreign policy of the islamist regime is provoking every Tom, Dick and Harry to threathen our country with "military strikes", whilst the isalmsit elite is stealing our oil revenue at an unprecedented rate, all we can do on this site is to call each other "zionists", "jew ",Mossad agent" or "arab lover".

What a shame indeed......

I respect you but not Islam. OK? Is that clear now? I will fight for your right to have your religion or whatever it is. But I want to be free of it. You go follow your beliefs and I mine. Is that fair?

"VPK: Couldn't agree more. Why is this so hard to grasp for some??" Those who find it hard to grasp such notion neither have the ability nor the courage to stand back and see things from an outsider's viewpoint! For many it's sheer ignorance!!! Also, Mammad can find his answer to the question: "Why is it that the great 1979 Revolution deviated from its path and got us the present terrible state of affairs?" by simply studying the lack of ability and courage among most opposition forces to stand back and indulge in self-criticism while entering into alliance with Khomeini's camp. Again, ignorance with regards to the necessity for self-criticism can be a major cause!

I neither demanded nor do I need an apology. I merely pointed out a fact, which you did not refute, but actually confirmed. You calling my religion a cult does not do anything but reaffirm my belief. Feel free to do it again, but then do not come back and ask, "What do you want," if I brought it up again. Civility is not merely avoiding profanity and baseless accusations and labels. Civility is also respecting others' beliefs, even if you disagree with them 100%

And, I say to the person who agreed with you: The moment you announce on this site that you are no longer a Bahai, I accept your sincerity that "all of them all cult." This person once said, "I cannot wait for Islam to get out of Iran," but not "I cannot wait for all religions to get out of Iran." Go figure!

Just to prevent any misunderstanding: In my view religion is a private matter. So, I could not care less what a person practices as his/her religion. I am merely pointing out the opportunism of some at making cheap proclamations that even they do not believe in, just as a way of attacking others!

by G. Rahmanian on

Do you think you belong to the category of the unfortunate "not-getting-it guys?" Do you find yourself trying to "get it," but you seem to have run out of luck? As the title of a current blog on IC suggests wisely, there must be plenty of your female counterparts who "don't get it," either. So, in the great hope of someday "getting it," I hereby propose to all the good men of honor who "don't get it," to untie right behind their female counterparts who also "don't get it," under the internationalist banner of, Egalite, Liberate & Fraternite. May you all somehow "get it," someday!

I appreciate your response. I will try to be there for you. One thing I ask if you don't mind it to visit my blog and just put in your post. There were only a few posts there. And of those admin deleted a very inoffensive one.

//iranian.com/main/blog/veiled-prophet-kh...

Yes no one should be called an Evin guard unless there is 100% proof. It is a very sickening charge.

As for your suggestions to admin. I have made many suggestions myself. As did others including AO whose suggestion I agreed with. If you are a computer guy and know UNIX they go into /dev/null meaning they are "ignored". It is a shame that the management of IC does not care about its readership. We get treated like junk until another site comes up then we migrate.

I am against bullying, and I do not believe that you acted like an Evin guard.  As far as I am concerned with the hilkers, good luck to them.  I've heard enough about those guys.  We have mand innocent Iranians who are rotting in IR prisons without anyone talking about them.

When it comes to you personally, I disagree with you on some points and agree with you on others, which the same with most other users.  As you can pobably see, I haven't been commenting and posting much these days, because as you can also see, I have become a victim of serious bullying on this site by none other than the person who is complaining about bullying!   While I appreciate the fact that admin deleted some of her multiple attack comments on AO's blog, I wish that the admin had taken more serious action against her so that other potential abusers do not try to harass other users like she was.  Moreoever, this is the same person who is cheering pendar-e-nik, who has been bullying Fred for months now on every single one of his blogs.  Talk about hypocrisy.

Again, I don't think that anyone should have been called a prison guard or anything close to it.  We can all exchange ideas without being abusive to others. There are many posts that I disagree with, but I don't even comment on those blogs.  I really think that the admin. should not wait for anyone to actually use profanity to delete the comment.  I think that the moment a discussion strays from the subject of the blog to the blogger himself / herself, or to other users, the admin should delete the comment and give the writer a warning.  With three warning bringing about a suspension and then banning the user from the site if the conduct continues.

I wrote the blog on bullies. I invite you to go there and post. Except that it will probably be "flagged" by some unknown person and removed by the admin.

There is a lot of bullying going on here. The one I was referring to was one implying people like me who are not pro "hikers" are Evin Guards. Be honest: do you consider that right? I am in the same boat as a lot of Americans. I guess many Americans are working extra shifts at Evin. No wonder jobs are hard to come by !

Veiled Prophet of Khorasan

Dear SK & Mammad

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on

Thank you SK for your kind words.

Mammad: I already once apologized for attacking you. What do you want? A pound of flesh? I will tell you this one thing: I am against all organized religion. There is little difference between any organized religion and a cult. That includes my favorite religion Zoroastrianism. Whether be Mobed; Mollah or Priest they are all using people. Organized religion is there to enrich the priesthood at the cost of people.

All of them are cults. I stand by it. If you want spirituality find it yoruself. If you want to go pray or fast or not eat pork: good for you. If you want to bash others on the head with your religion: bad for you and for them!

'Why not focus on some who are obsessed with starting a war with Iran?

Why not focus on Hezbollah, Hamas and Fatah which the Islamic Republic contributes to fighting Israel as part of their proxy war.

Let me know the next government orchestraded propaganda demonstration in Tel Aviv where flags of Iran are burnt and the crowds shout 'Death to Iran' in a frenzy.

Why not focus on people who have daily blogs on why "air tight" sanctions must be imposed, oil and gas must be sanctioned, and the sanction must be enforced by naval blockade?

Good. Sanctions, blockade and a proper Iranian Liberation Army sustained by a powerful airforce is the key to liberate Iran.

Last I remember all neighnouring Arab countries fought three wars against Israel: 1948, 1967 and 1973 and Iran under Mohammed Reza Pahlavi kept Iran out of the conflict and our borders were secure and we posed a threat to no other country.

bavafa, you say: "We just need to look at the pattern of their contribution and support or lack of to see where their heart lies at."

if anderson cooper was following this thread and your comment, you'd make his 'ridiculist.'  just looking at your prolific contribution list, one can see that you're obsessed with palestinian/israel issues not to mention other arab countries (bahrain, syria, iraq, libya, egypt, saudi arabia) in your attempt to deflect attention from iran and concentrate on the u.s. foreign policy.

once again, gilani stands corrected with his message: you bleeding hearts, why can't you concentrate on iran's domestic issues?

Bavafa

Normally I try not to get involved in these type of conversation

by Bavafa on

As I really don’t see much to gain from it but creating a jabbing  situation which does not help any of us but I usually like RG’s blog so I thought why not!

I wonder as we are in a way criticizing other’s obsession with “Israeli Arab” conflict, do we care about our own obsession about trying to impose our will on others as what subject they should care and care not?  Doesn’t such behavior go directly counter to the whole wish we have been expressing for the future system in our mother-land, i.e. democracy and freedom?!?!

Do we need to criticize those who are obsessed with art/movies, science and technology or sport?

or

Does this help us in any way to unit more?

It also helps keeping in mind that vast majority of those who care about the peace and justice in Israeli Palestinians conflict are also deeply concern about Iranians conflict with their own regime.   We just need to look at the pattern of their contribution and support or lack of to see where their heart lies at.  Furthermore, to insinuate that those who are in favor of Palestinians cause are IRI supporters is to reject their own notion that IRI is not for peace between these two entities, which I agree with.  So how could one be pro-peace between Israel/Palestine and pro IRI when IRI is against peace?

    My 0.02 cents here.

Soosan Khanoom

Dear Mohammad

by Soosan Khanoom on

Number one reason anyone loses its religion is because of the encounter he or she had with those who claim are religious.   For example, no one becomes an atheist just for the sake of it but rather because of the craps that he or she have been fed to by the religious people .. anyway. What I am saying is that the Islamic republic of Iran should be blamed for people's anti Islamic sentiment especially among the Iranians.   I bet you that we had more muslims, at least those who would say that they are one, at the time of Shah than IRI ... all of which is because IRi does everything in the name of Islam ... I no longer blame any Iranian who hates this religion but I do, only and only , blame the iRI for it.  Quite frankly, I have become numb and I do not care any more if I hear of these kinds of attacks especially on this site.

Now forget about grown up talks like democracy .. for now , please, solve this site's ever growing problem of the bullying . I just feel that i am re-living my high school years .    It is not that bad .... the positive side of it is I think I am only 16 ..

I do not mean to drag this on, but VPK has used that on numerous occasions, although not more recently.

The VF regime does insult the religion. But, that is expected of it. What is not expected is what numerous "democracy lovers" do in this site. In the name of democracy they allow themselves to say what they want. I know it better than most people in this site, because I have been at the receiving end of "democratic debate and free expression of opinion" of such democracy lovers!

Also Roozbeh Jaan - if you notice

by Onlyiran on

these people are so obsessed with Palestine / Israel that they give you their specific, articulated, nuanced position about that conflict without even asking.  Here's an example:

//iranian.com/main/blog/soosan-khanoom/when-bouganvilla-stops-blooming-its-time

But then ask them about the situation in Iran.  All you will get is a peace sign and a poem, and a discussion about world peace, just like AN does at the UN!

I would say that at some point we should put them on a plane and send them to Gaza.  But then again, I don't think that these hypocrites have the courage to live in Gaza for a single day.  They'll probably run over to Tel Aviv in less than 24 hours and beg for Israeli citizenship.  Now, that would be a "LOL" as they say themselves. :-)

//iranian.com/main/news/2011/09/25

and for comic relief, commenter mammad is driving your argument home by encouraging you to focus on everything but the current suffering of our compatriots at the hands of sadistic akhoonds and their "security" and "juidiciary" apparatus!

Please give credit where it is due rather than get insulted because someone called your religion a cult ....  besides if any one is insulting our religions it is the islamic republic of Iran ... so shoot them instead !!!

Mammad

Roozbeh, there are other deeper obsessions

by Mammad on

First of all, the resolution of Palestinian problem will be a huge step toward true peace in the Middle East - not the bogus "peace process" that Israel and its lobby talk about all the time while Israel confiscates Palestinians' land and resources. True peace in the Middle East will be a big step toward elimination of extremists and fundamentalists, both Jewish and Muslims, whether Sunni or Shiite.

Second, once fundamentalism is isolated, it will be much easier to deal with it, including in Iran. From this angle, the issue is of utter importance.

Third, any true Iranian nationalist focuses on Iran. Anyone who claims otherwise is not one.

But, at the same time, I take issue with your blog, even though what it says is totally reasonable, in the following sense:

If the question that you want to address with obsession with one issues, I say there are deeper and more prevalent ones here on IC. Why not focus on some who are obsessed with starting a war with Iran? Why not focus on people who have daily blogs on why "air tight" sanctions must be imposed, oil and gas must be sanctioned, and the sanction must be enforced by naval blockade? And these people claim that they do not want war, as if economic sanction is not war, and as if naval blockade is not an act war, which it is according to all the relevant international agreement.

Why not focus on those who constantly mock and demonize Islam and Muslims on this site? Why not focus on numerous racist and prejudiced blogs and statements made against Muslims and Islam on this site on a regular basis? VPK, who posted a blog on lack of civility in this site, has called Islam a cult numerous times. This is totally insulting to practicing Muslims, such as me.

As I see it, blogs on demonizing Islam and Muslims, and on starting a destructive war, are more numerous than anything else on IC.

If you want to be even handed, why did you not say much about Israel's supporters on this website who get offended even at the mildest criticism of Israel? Those who are on 24/7 alert about the issue? Why not focus on monarchists who align themselves with Israel and defend it with some of the most absurd statements?

In my opinion, the stronger obsession, the worst obsession, are those I described above. So practice what you preach. Why focus on these people, why don't you write blogs on these people, if the issue to be debated is obsession with an issue?

But, I said all of these to get to my point: the more good people like you talk about Palestinians, the more attention it receives on this site. So, why don't you write on a question that I posed a while ago, and you agreed it is very important:

Why is it that the great 1979 Revolution deviated from its path and got us the present terrible state of affairs?
