President Mir Hossein Mousavi

Mir Hossein Mousavi, an unusual and reluctant leader with mass following, an executive manager – Prime Minister - who served a revolutionary leader (Khomeini) and an opposing President (Khamenei).  Now running for Presidency against the establishment headed by the ex-President who confiscated his revolution.

A shy and reserved person, no apparent charisma and certainly not a good orator as he admits himself, someone who would rather have been a ‘chiz’ (cultural ambassador) than a ‘chiz’ (presidential candidate)

A devoted citizen, a volunteer for an impossible job, to fill the gap between a decaying political system taking final breaths and a new generation living in a new global era of promise and hope.

Mousavi, an unlikely modern-time Trotskyist! A believer in revolution within a revolution. A revolutionary setting out to change and reform a transformed regime he helped establish and survive in its early years of upheavel and war; now messianically leading a mass protest movement.

A follower of ‘khat-e-Imam’ standing against Imam’s successor. Chants of Allah-o-Akbar against those who stole and bore to death (maskh) the Islamic revolution of Feb 1979 and its ideals of freedom, independence and public service.
