U r right things are getting even worse
by Soosan Khanoom on Wed Feb 22, 2012 05:29 PM PSTin Iran ... dark agaes at its height ..
India is horrible ... they used to burn the wife alive once the husband dies ... just imagine that !!
SK, that's why IR is also referrd to as GENDER-APARTHEID
by Siamak Asadian on Wed Feb 22, 2012 05:02 PM PSTAlong side Saudi Arabia, and perhaps Afghanistan?
What we've seen in that past year or so is an even harsher extension of this Gender-Aparthied in IR to all spheres of social and personal life: imposition of codified clothing for women in governmental offices, seperate text books for boys and girls at schools, single gender high education institutes,.. the list goes on.
Yet what surprises me is that, India occupies the first place in the world as far a domestic and general violence against women.
Ok joking aside ....
by Soosan Khanoom on Wed Feb 22, 2012 04:48 PM PSTWomen in Iran simply have no rights...They are being forced to get married ... they are being forced to stay in it and they have no rights to divorce. ... Somehow I have much less sympathy for men in that society than women. This does not mean that shoharkhoshi is OK..... No one should ever be allowed to kill another soul ... man or woman ...
But a woman in the iranian society ( aka Dark Ages ) has NO WAY out while men are getting all sorts of free rides ..
Men are allowed to marry four, they can have unlimited mistress (
aka sigheh ), they have right to divorce, they get to have the kids no matter what
the list goes on ...

A state of war only serves as an excuse for domestic tyranny.--Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.
Dear Vildemose,
by Anahid Hojjati on Wed Feb 22, 2012 04:22 PM PSTthanks for the link to Ms. Farjami's article. I liked her article.
...
by Siamak Asadian on Wed Feb 22, 2012 04:16 PM PSTAll joking aside, AH & Vildemose are correct about the real victims of domestic violence.
Violence against husbands in Iran compard to the rate and prevalence of violence and abuse against wives in Iran is practically nothing.
Just last year it seemed we were witnessing an epidemic of rape in Iran, which seems to have subsided. Or is the news of such occurances are not as widely reported as before?
Though, compared to other countires, as surprising as it might sound, India seems to hold the first place in the world on violence agaisnt married women by their husbands or their husbands' family.
This is an old article but
by vildemose on Wed Feb 22, 2012 04:08 PM PSTThis is an old article but scientific. It might shed some light on this issue.
I agree with anahid.

is that only me?
by Anahid Hojjati on Wed Feb 22, 2012 03:54 PM PSTor few others share this sentiment that "shoharkoshi" in a society like Iran is not as bad as "zankoshi". Almost all "zankoshi" cases are logical end of abuse or similar motives. However, many "shoharkoshi" cases migh be because the woman was abused.

by Faramarz on Wed Feb 22, 2012 02:59 PM PSTBut there are documented cases of husbands getting shot after they had put the dishes in the dishwasher.
Take note!

یکی از دلایل اصلی رواج این پدیده خواهش و التماس مکرر آقایان از همسرانشان است که میخواهند هر چه سریع تر به درد و رنجشان پایان دهند.
