Stop Child Executions is happy to announce that Rahim Ahmadi has a stay of execution for the time being. His mother received news yesterday that her son was not on the list of those scheduled to be executed.
Seven people were taken to be executed on Monday. Five of them ended up being executed while two, who had nooses around their necks ready to be executed ,were reprieved at the last minute. Rahim Ahmadi's lawyer sent a message today thanking all those who helped pressure the Iranian Judiary to halt his execution. Stop Child Executions also thanks all those who took action in this urgent matter.

by Yachov on Sat Feb 21, 2009 08:21 PM PSTRest assured my friend, there is reason not only to remain hopeful but to rejoice in what you will see within your lifetime. For now we must taste the sadness but in time, those who cause the suffering will ask for forgiveness of those they have harmed. This I promise you.
I guess it's impossible to remain hopeful
by Azarin Sadegh on Fri Feb 20, 2009 11:32 PM PSTI just received this news:
Amir Khaleghi to be executed this Sunday!"

Is it ever going to end?

Read it again, I believe it is about Iran!
Child executions is nothing compared to:
stoning women, segregation of women, honor killing, daily harassment of women, daily harassment of defenceless religious minorities and the list goes on and on, so you should at least show some courtesy not to mix the issues and I heard someone say silence is Gold! This time you should keep quiet!

by DW Duke on Fri Feb 20, 2009 12:07 PM PSTAre these the teeage murderers to which you are referring?
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dgsZYA1mPY
They appear here too. Who did they murder?
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxR1EpGvOgE&feature=related
Your post is all over the map with broad sweeping generalizations about nations and causes etc. because you are oversimplifying very complex issues. Your original post was replete with erroneous statements and your most recent post rambles so far and wide it is impossible engage in meaningful dialogue with you. Suffice it to say no one can fight every battle at all times. One has to choose his battles or he becomes ineffective.
The judicial sanctioning of the execution of children is a particularly egregious violation that is limited today to six countries. That does not mean that there are not other problems in the world and that does not mean that those other problems are not being addressed. But at this particular moment the issue in this thread is child executions. Would you say that no one should ever address any problem unless they simultaneously address every problem in the world? How effective do you believe that person would be? The effect of such naive thinking would be the preclusion of anyone from ever addressing issues of human rights which would effectively surrender the entire world to tyrants. Fortunately, most people are not that naive.
As to your comment that SCE supports Pahlavi or is paid by the US, rest assured neither statement is true. Members of SCE have identified a particular violation of an international treaty which is particularly egregious because it involves a heinous form of child abuse perpetrated by a government. That does not mean that SCE members do not address other issues but they are not the subject of this thread. Since you brought it up how much is the IRI paying you?
David ET, U.S. has killed more people than IRI
by AnonymousBuddy (not verified) on Fri Feb 20, 2009 09:50 AM PSTI didn't say that I supported the execution of minors; Iran should NOT be executing these teenage murderers, but should rather imprison them (or do you think everyone in Iranian prisons is an innocent "freedom fighter"?). But the whole point of this campaign is to replace the current regime with another U.S. puppet dictatorship, like the ones ruling Egypt, Jordan, etc. The U.S. government has killed a far larger number of people in Iraq and earlier in Vietnam than the IRI has killed. Why do U.S. government propagandists like you not fight against the U.S. government, which under both Republican and Democratic administrations, has served as the number one supporter, advocate, trainer, and supporter of weaponry to murderous dictatorships and mercenaries in Guatemala, El Salvador, Chile, Zaire, Indonesia, Greece (just to name a few places)? Are you the kind of mercenary for hire that the U.S. previously used in Iran, of the Shaban bi Mokh variety? Are you one of those Iranians who puts out propaganda for the Dear Leader, Barack Obama? Do you eat popcorn and drink Pepsi when Dear Leader Barack's U.S. Air Force bombs and kills Afghan men, women, and children? Let's hear you write articles and post comments against the Dear Leader Barack and other rotten U.S. leaders.
since when ?!
by David ET on Fri Feb 20, 2009 08:34 AM PSTSince when US has become the role model for the extremist Islamists??!!!! As DW mentioned US stopped practice of child execution in 2005. US also had slavery laws, does that mean that IR can continue the legalize enslaving of married women as it is in their sharia law?
World Nations (UN) are clear about execution for crime under 18 being illegal and IR is a member of UN and signatory to the Convention on the Right of the Child.
At least if you get a kick out of killing juveniles say it outloud instead of intentional falsification of facts about US!
annomymousbuddy Sorry SCE, human right activists , lawyers and Iranian public are ruining your joy of seeing children getting executed. If they let your kind , you probablt buy popcorn and pepsi and sit in front row to heat these kids tears, last breath and pale faces during execution.
It is best to revise the definition of what it means to be a human, to exclude IR leaders and their supporters who enjoy killing, imprisoning and torturning people.

by DW Duke on Fri Feb 20, 2009 07:31 AM PSTIn your previous post you did not say "the U.S. has executed minors in recent years," you said, specifically using the present tense:
"the U.S. also executes people who murder before age 18, and I've never seen Iranian.com having a problem with the U.S. government"
As I said, that is not correct. No person has been executed in the United States for a crime committed while a minor since 2005 when the US Supreme Court rendered its opinion in Roper v. Simmons (2005) 543 U.S. 551 which rendered it unconstitutional for a person to be executed for a crime committed while a minor. All of the cases you referenced predate the 2005 Roper decision. Here is the opinion.

by DW Duke on Thu Feb 19, 2009 09:00 PM PSTFYI: The US does not execute people for crimes committed before the age of 18 years. In addition, it is a violation of Article 37(a) of the Convention on the Rights of the Child of which Iran is a signatory nation. Only six countries execute individuals for crimes committed before the age of 18 years but Iran is the worst offender.
As to whether he committed murder it is ordinarily impossible to tell under Iran's deplorable application of evidentiary standards but in answer to your question "no," he lacked the necessary mens rea.
Lastly, SCE did disclose the case facts here:
//iranian.com/main/blog/sce-campaign/rahim-ahmadi-has-3-days-live
Did he commit murder?
by AnonymousBuddy (not verified) on Thu Feb 19, 2009 07:50 PM PSTFirst of all, these are not "children" getting executed. They are over the age of 18, and therefore adults (they committed their crimes when they were 15 or 16 years old)--the U.S. also executes people who murder before age 18, and I've never seen Iranian.com having a problem with the U.S. government (I guess Uncle Sam's multibillion dollar propaganda budget is making some Iranians rich. Does Uncle Sam pay these Iranians by the word?). Second of all, can you at least have the decency and honesty to state that these people were imprisoned for murdering their neighbors and/or family members. It's nice to see that the so-called "opposition" is willing to embrace murderers just so they can have the Pahlavi clan sitting in Niavaran Palace and running Evin Prison once again. Spare us your crocodile tears. These postings are just propaganda against the current regime by elements of the former regime.
Let's hope it stays that
by Fatollah (not verified) on Thu Feb 19, 2009 03:56 PM PSTLet's hope it stays that way!
Temporary measure
by Gullible (not verified) on Thu Feb 19, 2009 06:10 AM PSTThey have stopped it temporarily. No guarantee that they will not do it later.

by Iranyvaliazad on Wed Feb 18, 2009 09:04 PM PST"His mother received news yesterday that her son was not on the list of those scheduled to be executed. "
Moslem clerics execute Iranian citizens at will, even providing a list as if it is grocery list. Have the Iranian population become numb to fact that moslem clerics kill so many of thier brothers and sisters just like that?
wonderful news!
by Azarin Sadegh on Wed Feb 18, 2009 05:00 PM PSTI hope it is part of the real change in the policies of the Iranian government regarding the execution of juvenile!
Great news! Thanks a lot SCE for your phenomenal work!
