YouTube removes clip of Mahmoud's party in New York

There was news yesterday that YouTube has removed the video clip showing a group of Iranians participating at a September dinner held by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in New York. Today the news was confirmed by another source on Balatarin. The reason YouTube has provided for removing the video has been cited as "terms of use violation." From what I remember from the video clip, it was a news report by Islamic Republic's television, IRIB. A group of men and women who adhered to the Islamic dress code were having dinner at what looked like a hotel banquet room. The participants willingly answered questions and expressed their love for Iran or for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as their reasons for being at that function. The film was shown in part or in its entirety on Iranian television, IRIB, so why couldn't an excerpt of it stay on YouTube? It was a public function, the film has already been broadcast to 70 million people, and it is safe to assume that the whole idea behind the function was to generate publicity about the fact that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has supporters amongst upstanding Iranian Americans. Naturally, it didn't have any profanity or foul language in it. Why should it be removed? Which "terms of use" have been violated? Does anybody know what this is all about?

The video was removed for good reason

by Simorgh5555 on

The smell of flatulence from the women diners as well as the odour of indigestion from the unkempt and ugly terrorist thugs mixed with the stench of decomposed human flesh beneath their finger finger nails  from all the innocent victims they have killed was to blame.

I heard it was because of the smell

They said the other clips could not bear the smell any more.

This isn't that unusual. It could be a question of copyright infringement. I've seen this happen with US news stories, as well.

Or it could be related to something else.

Write YouTube and ask for an explanation.

No, Majid, this was not due to comments.  YouTube provided the reason as "violating terms of use" and in a concerted effort, deleted all postings of this clip.  See here

There are thousands of IRIB clips on YouTube.  The Iranian government spent a lot of money to have this dinner to show it off to everyone in order to generate positive publicity for itself.  I doubt IRIB would have wanted this clip removed, because this event achieved all that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad tried to achieve--to show a group of Iranian citizens who would show up to support him and speak well of him and the Islamic Republic of Iran.  That is the whole objective of such projects; why defeat it by removing it?
