For me, this site serves many purposes as it is. I learn, socialize, cry and am entertained by others. What else can one want?! (What else is out there that I may not know about? Seriously?)

Good Job JJ
by hossein.hosseini on Mon Jul 06, 2009 04:52 PM PDTFriends,
I think JJ has done a great job during the past 2 months. The fact is that NO ONE and I mean NO ONE outside or inside of Iran could predict the events that have happened since the election. In all fairness with all his limitations, JJ has done everything possible to keep the site updated with heavy emphasis on Iran’s events.
For all his work I am very thankful. It is OK to give suggestions to help him make the site better. But to complain and somehow expect one person carry the torch, IMHO is unreasonable and impossible. Please remember this is a PRIVATE site owned and managed by JJ. His livelihood depends on it. There are thousands of website related to Iran and Iranians. If you don’t find what you need here, just visit other sites.

Don't visit iranian.com if
by not shorts (not verified) on Mon Jul 06, 2009 12:55 PM PDTDon't visit iranian.com if you like to see only the ugly face of politicians and political news.
People have a right to go somewhere not only to see these miserable, sickening bad news. Iranian.com is a cultural site first and then comes the headlines and news which arepublished 1'000'000 times everywhere. Go buy a sandwich before you advice the publisher how you could make him rich.
Now, lets finish this comment in Iranian style which means Fohsh.

Suggestion Mr. Javid
by capt_ayhab on Mon Jul 06, 2009 08:34 AM PDTI agree with both sides and I have a suggestion that might help.
I have no programming background what so ever, But IF you can come up with programming suggestion, I personally can spearhead some sort of fund raising to help your plans to come true.
This is a fantastic site, and I am certain many of your regular commentators and contributors[Including yours truly] will be more more than happy to chip in to help the publication, which we have been enjoying so tremendously.
If this is doable then please do the research and let us know .
Respectfully

What is it that AKB can't find on this site?
by IRANdokht on Sun Jul 05, 2009 07:45 PM PDTAll the Iran related links from major news websites are on the first page.
On the news section iranian.com readers recommend news items and they get discussed for free.
There is a free space for blogs that anyone can write in and discussions get sometimes quite heated.
The pictures of Iranians in Iran and abroad get posted regularly on the first page.
Video links from Iran are posted regularly on the first page.
New articles, poems, stories are published on the site every day.
We're at war? you want to talk about it? write an article and submit it, or just blog it for all to see. you want to share news with others? post them and read what others posted too.
There are plenty of iranian news websites out there but most are not interactive. the variety of interests between the readers of this site is apparent by looking at the responses each post receives and the readers show interest in every aspect of the site.
I am not sure why someone would send an email to complain that you're not posting only specific material. I am also not sure why someone who is such a good writer (who can single handedly make this site a lot of money by posting his articles here) misspelled the word "al-aan", I am sure most people aren't molla loghati as I am, but such great writers should be.

I am pessimistic...
by Anonymous Irani (not verified) on Sun Jul 05, 2009 07:17 PM PDTAKB: you are correct, and if I could see any hope of achieving the century-old desires of iranians for freedom, independence (physical and cultural), self-determination, and a progressive country, I for one would do what you are suggesting. on this site or another, spending as much time and effort as needed without asking for any reward, financial or otherwise, in return, but only for the country and the country men and women.
However, I am not optimistic about this uprising leading to achieving century-old aspirations of iranians; because:
(1) I do not trust this bunch (Mousavi, Rafsanjani, and the rest of Mullas gangs). Not only that they have a poor record, but I do not trust anyone who still praises likes of Khomeini or the islamic republic; since that person would be either lying (which is not a good start) or truly believes in those bastards who brought us here and is completely ignoring 30 years of devastation that IRI has brought upon all aspects of iran and iranian lives. This split in the ruling class is more a matter of family fight for power and wealth rather than for iran and iranian, with sacrifices being iranians yet again.
(2) IRI rulers are brutal. They have not even begun brutalizing iranians, likes of which we have seen in 1988. They simply will not give up power and wealth easily, and iranians lack a serious leader, either a peaceful but determined type, or an effective and forceful type that can force these monsters out. All of these people belong behind bars, and any compromise and sympathy with them is injustice towards ordinary iranians and future of iran.
I disagree completely,
by AnonymousKhadij (not verified) on Sun Jul 05, 2009 04:30 PM PDTIranian.com reflects people who come to it. It is primarily in English for Iranians in the west. It has an open speech policy. Why should it take sides politically? Aren't there enough partisanship out there already?
I became attracted to this website for its poetry and literature. This is even more rare in the Persian community. Siasi websites are dime a dozen.
The person who sent the letter obvious can write anything in a blog. So what's the problem? You want to stop other people from writing subjects you don't like?
good points
by David ET on Sun Jul 05, 2009 04:18 PM PDTIranian.com has so much potential but is also so isolated at the same time. Where is the live twitter on it? Facebook connection? YouTube connection? Live news clips of Iran? Digg it and other blog posting capabilities.
Why Huffington post and New York Times with one non-Iranian in charge of their Iran blog were used more by those in Iran and had their fingers on the pulse more than iranian.com?
Iranian.com is a good political, etc. tabloid of Iranian diaspora but still has a long wayto go before becoming a serious player in today’s interactive world and Iran life and politics
Interactivity. Interactivity and the power of now is the answer. Where is real connection with Iran, alternate proxies.
No being blocked in Iran is just an excuse
It's 2009 and site is somewhere at 2003.
This positive critisism is not to undermine or not appreciate all the good things that Mr. Javid and Iranian.com has done for Iranians with this site.
