yes ... says who ?

Do I need Hawking to tell me that how blind he is?
I have a question .... where the laws of gravity come from?
The Quran describes gravitational force as ‘invisible pillars’: “God it is Who raised up the heavenly bodies to invisible pillars .....” (13:2).
‘unseen pillars’, prevents the planets from colliding with each other or falling, is force of gravity, a law to which the Creator of the universe has subjected all of the heavenly bodies..... duh !
I am so sick and tired of these so called scientists that think only bible has the answer to everything ........ and if their findings contradict with bible then there is no God ......
someone asked Einstein " Do you believe in God?" he replied , " which God? There are two Gods ... one is the one who people have created and one is the one who has created and governs the entire universe "
aka darya
PS. to the Quran bashing crowd on this site ..... Oh pleeeeeease give me a break : )

I talk to God(ess) all the time, yes ;-)
by Aryana-Vaeja on Sun Sep 05, 2010 06:37 AM PDTAnd She has quite a lot to say. You can also talk to Her if you want.
The quote is an old, old one. I saw it for the first time years and years ago written on a bathroom wall while I was still in highschool and obsessed with the brilliant German!

Aryana, dear!
by Azarin Sadegh on Sun Sep 05, 2010 01:25 AM PDTInteresting quote...but not original!! It seems that god has lost its creativity...or worse his originality....I never expected him to get offended by one of his creations...because anyway if He is god, then he is the one putting these ideas in Nietzsche's mind...:-)
BTW, where did you see this quote?
Do you have a special connection with god? Does he talk to you sometimes? Has he published a new book recently where he writes about Nitezsche? I'd be interested in buying this one! But wait....As much as I remember you kept arguing that he hasn't written his last best seller ...:-)
How do YOU know?
Come on, Aryana! Don't be shy...Reveal your sources..:-)

by Azarin Sadegh on Fri Sep 03, 2010 11:38 PM PDTYou should be kidding with your id choice! The basic IQ classification has different category of "divaaneh" (idiot: (0-19 IQ) Imbecile (20-49) and Moron (50-69 IQ)...But I think you are mostly between 120 -140 IQ, or highly intelligent category!!
Plus, I would love to have a copy of your new version of Quran! Mine somehow seems more adequate for the below 70 IQ!

by divaneh on Fri Sep 03, 2010 05:12 PM PDTI was delighted by that example and can offer some more evidence that god taught the laws or gravity in Quran far before Newton. You have to excuse my poor translation.
Have they not looked at birds above them who have opened their wings. No one but god keeps them up there who can see everything. (67:19)
This is definitely about god protecting birds from gravity or they would fall on the ground and there would be no bird left. And it's not only gravity, look at this one.
And god created every animal from water. Some of them move on its belly, some walk on two feet and some walk on four feet. God creates whatever he wants (24:45)
I think this one teaches evolution far before Darwin claims it to be his idea.
Said whether an old woman like me with an old husband would give birth? This is bewildering. (11:72)
Artificial insemination, what else? You see everything is in Quran we only have to find them before kafirs beat us to it every time.

by Aryana-Vaeja on Fri Sep 03, 2010 05:10 PM PDTWhat response?
Azarin is making a classic argumentative fallacy by appealing to authority. I don't care that Stephen Hawkings is a modern authority on physics. I find his arguments beside the point and rather shallow. He is not a philosopher or theologian either. Besides what exactly is his argument, anyway? I don't see much of one, really.
But arguments for the existence of first causes always lead nowhere because they are situated on the wrong level of demonstration IMHO. I can prove to you the existence of the Spirit and I won't use arguments. I'll let you experience It for yourself.

Modern belief in God
by Hoshang Targol on Fri Sep 03, 2010 10:06 AM PDTseems to be stemming more out of alienation than anything else.
And by alienation I'm not just reffering to Marx's notion, but also the psycho-analytical version, such as Lacan. The latter locates human alienation not only in our fragmented social being , but also in the very language we use to communicate/distort things to each other.
Does anyone remember that song by John Lennon: Imagine.
Imagine, if there was no alienation, no need for God or any other superior being!

Khanoom jan, why so defensive?
by Hoshang Targol on Fri Sep 03, 2010 09:31 AM PDTSossan Khanoon aziz, two short recommendations from your humble servant, if I may:
1) Get yourself a copy of National Geographics map of the Universe. Yes, this IS THE MAP OF THE UNIVERESE. It's an amazing piece of geographic mapping, outer space, and then tell me if you think there is one/there could be one single cause behind this thing we call, the universe.
2) When you're in mood for something really refreshing, read some Espinoza. All those other books, torah, bible, koran, are just so outdated.
And have a great weekend, cheers

Aryana "joon"
by Azarin Sadegh on Fri Sep 03, 2010 03:30 AM PDTOh dear...please don't get me started! First of all, we supposedly don't know each other (wink wink)...so please don't "joon" me and act more seriously!
Second, Hawkins is an authority in the field no matter whjat you can claim. And the extent of today's physics has nothing to do with the physics at Newton's time or even Einstein's. My comment was a direct answer to the bloggers funny quote from Quran. And I was just teasing her..:-)
Kidding aside, everyone knows that god is not a scientific concept. The same way you can't dismiss it you can't prove it either. But I am kind of amused to see the religious people fuming...they take everything so seriously! And you're not an exception!
Of course I know that you're dying to prove the existence of god based on some obscure branch of your Bhuddist/Hindo/Islamo/Judiasm/christian/etc./sufism, but I'm sure you should have known me by now. I don't buy it.
See you on fb, Az.
God(head) *is* the Universe
by Aryana-Vaeja on Fri Sep 03, 2010 03:04 AM PDTAzarin joon, FYI, Einstein and Newton both were believers in a higher Cause. Newton studied Kabbalah and Alchemy alongside his science, and Einstein's avid interest in Indian metaphysics is well known. Stephen Hawkins is not in either Newton's or Einstein's league. The guy has never impressed me much. Anyway, the God of the religious believer and God of the philosopher-metaphysician are practically two different Deities.

by Azarin Sadegh on Fri Sep 03, 2010 01:59 AM PDTFunny blog! It was pretty entertaining to see someone so out of her element! I guess the science of physics is not your field of expertise. by hamsade ghadimi on Tue Mar 29, 2011 12:36 PM PDTyou have a problem with scientists who believe in god (or bible) if their findings confirm what's in the holy book. and you have a problem with scientists who don't believe in god if their findings contradict what's in the holy book. i can talk about other problems such as scientists believing in god even when their findings contradict a holy book and vice versa but it seems you already have many problems.

by Mehman on Fri Sep 03, 2010 10:08 PM PDTThe fact is that the development of the universe from the big bang until now could be explained by mere scientific cause and effect relations and even though human science would not be able to explain every single details due to the lack of progress in scientific data it does not mean that there is no scientific explanation but as to the fact that there must be an external cause for the creation and sustenance of the universe or the first form of matter I should say that this is beyond the knowledge of man in his present state of mind hence it is not possible to be proven yet you might take it as a possibility albeit remote like imagining a monster exists with 3 heads behind the zagross mountains and quoting some mountaineers who have actually seen the monster it is possible but with very remote probability or credibility same with god in scientific terms hard to prove yet intuition and personal feelings give you a feeling that the possibility of one omnipotent creator is not that remote which you might be justified but can not prove take care good night and have a nice and punctuated weekend khosghel khanoum abrou kamoun cheshm assali sousan khanoum.
