New McCarthy-like Congressional hearings beginning this Thursday about Muslims in America

Congress To Hold Hearings On Muslim Threat
Things may get worse, Rep. Peter King (R-NY), Chair of the Homeland Security Committee of the House of Representatives, is holding McCarthy-like Congressional hearings beginning this Thursday on the "Radicalization of American Muslims."
Quite a bit of the proposed witness list has looked like a who's who of Islamophobes,
and we Muslim Americans are holding our collective breath waiting for the fallout from these hearings.
We wonder: will we see more hate mobs outside our mosques or events due to hysteria being whipped up by these hearings?
It's certainly possible, and Muslims around the country are strategizing on how to respond to protect our faith community from more bigoted protests,
or even dangerous attacks on our places of worship and individuals.

//www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/06/congress-...
A Minnesota Democrat, congressman Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to the House,
says that while it's proper to investigate radicalization, he thinks it is wrong to single out a religious minority.
"I worry about it," he said on the program. "Everybody I talk to worries about it, and we're concerned about the breadth of this."
He added, "It's absolutely the right thing to do for the chairman of the Homeland Security Committee to investigate radicalization,
but to say we're going to investigate a religious minority, and a particular one, I think is the wrong course of action to take."
On Sunday, groups opposed to King's hearings plan to rally in New York. President Barack Obama's deputy national security adviser
will speak on the administration's approach to countering domestic radicalization.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Wed Mar 09, 2011 07:23 PM PSTOnce islamist regime is overthrown, it's leadership and hardcore supporters tried and punished for their crime against humanity,
That is the first requirement. As long as IR; Taliban; AQ and the like exist Islam will be vilified.
Over time muslims will be treated like other religious minorities and not a bunch of terrorists.
It took decades and a generation to get Islam so hated. In the 1960s Westerners had a romantic notion of Islam. Public figures such as Cat Stevens were becoming Muslim. Now after IR; AQ; and Taliban no one wants to be associated with it. Most Iranians in the West will not even say they are Muslims. Some are to ashamed; others just lost faith.
If Islam wants to survive it better get its act together. By going around and blaming the messenger they will not get there. They must stop complaining and start improving.
Islam did
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Wed Mar 09, 2011 07:09 PM PSTit to itself. Folks it is the actions of Muslims that has brought this upon them. I would think that we shall see a movement to reclassify Islam. Not a religion but a cult. This will let the USA remove constitutional protection from Islam.
When you see what Islam has done to the West it is not a surprise. If it were not for Islamic actions we would not need all this airport security. No requirement for inspecting every single cargo shipped into USA. Do you know what that costs America?
Of course they should have hearings on the danger of Islam. In fact it would be insane not to. I thank King for making this move. In my view Islam should be treated just as it treats other people. How tolerant are Muslim nations towards non Muslims specially those not "of the book? What do they do with openly atheist people? What do they do if you leave Islam. My dear Muslims need to learn the hard way: action have consequences. Behave civilized or be treated as savages.
How about this:
Then maybe other nations will start treating Muslims with respect.
This hearing has already backfired on King

What
by Mola Nasredeen on Wed Mar 09, 2011 04:53 PM PSTis McCarthyism?
Joseph McCarthy was an American senator (a few decades back) who started a witch hunt in the United States.
"During the McCarthy era, thousands of Americans were accused of being Communists or communist sympathizers and became the subject of aggressive investigations and questioning before government or private-industry panels, committees and agencies.
The primary targets of such suspicions were government employees, those in the entertainment industry, educators and Union activists.
Suspicions were often given credence despite inconclusive or questionable evidence, and the level of threat posed by a person's real or supposed leftist associations or beliefs was often greatly exaggerated.
Many people suffered loss of employment, destruction of their careers, and even imprisonment. Most of these punishments came about through trial verdicts later overturned, laws that would be declared unconstitutional, dismissals for reasons later declared illegal or actionable or extra-legal procedures that would come into general disrepute."
Thus congressman Peter King's actions against American Muslims is compared with Joseph McCarthy's action.
"P.S. Soosan khanoom, the reason he asks them these questions and 'all these crap' is because it's their level of intellect and understanding of the subject at hand. He has to lower himself to their level." Said Hazrate shotor.

If Muslims in America are really concerned about being persecuted then they should keep a low profile, stop preaching about their religion and attempting to convert others to their religion. by Reality-Bites on Wed Mar 09, 2011 10:47 AM PSTGoing by the multiple comments you've already posted on this issue (and doubtless with more to come), you appear to be getting somewhat overexcited by this topic, so please don't take my following comment as any kind of slight to your faith.
First a question, does stating that there are too many mosques in a country (any country) automatically equate to "hate mongering"? if so, why?
Second, the 8 million Muslims in the US are not required, i.e. legally or otherwise, to "deal with" any bigots. In a country like the US where there is actually proper rule of law, based on a legal system which, while not perfect (but then neither is any other legal system), is independent and generally fair. Muslims can, if they should decide, deal with any bigotry directed towards them legally. Which is a lot more than one can say for minorities in many Muslim countries.
There are bigots in every country around the world, including the US. You can always find them, if you look hard enough. But the US (a country that I don't live in, btw) is certainly one of the better ones for minorities and that is precisely why I made my earlier post about why so many Muslims wish to move and live there.
If we go by the overreaction and hyperbole of the article here and elsewhere, calling this inquiry "McCarthy-like" and Islam becoming banned in the US, which infers life must be getting so bad for Muslims in the US, then presumably you wouldn't have the 8 million of your fellow Muslims living there with many millions more dreaming of joining them, would you?
The biggest terrorist atrocity on the US soil, by far, was carried out by extremist Muslims and in the name of Islam. Muslims, including those who have been granted US citizenship, have continued to plot attacks on the US soil. They would murder you on the spot for the perception of even the slightest offence to Islam (whether or not any offence was intended) and be deliriously happy about it. We are talking about hate-filled people who pour into the streets, screaming for blood and threatening to decapitate others simply for drawing a cartoon of the head of their faith, for crying out loud. You want bigotry? That's your bigotry right there.
Clearly there is a huge problem here, both in the continuing determination and ploting of the extremists to attack America and the silence/inaction of many law abiding Muslims to confront the extremism within their community. Just look your own reaction and Soosan Khoonam's to these hearings. You are not concerned about the poison of Islamic extremism and intolerance that has led to the hearings in the first place, but that Americans (in their own country, let's keep in mind) are holding these hearings at all.
There are people from many different faiths that live in America. Have you asked yourself why there are no hearings on Buddhists, Shintos, Hindus, Zoroastrians, Bahais, Taoists, Sikhs, Jainists etc? I'll give you a clue, the followers of these faiths are not actively trying to murder Americans, unlike extremist Muslims.
Of course no one should suffer from bigotry. Law abiding and peaceful Muslims should be no exception. But America has every right to hold these hearings when the threat it is facing is real and clear. If a group of extremists from a minority religion had smashed passenger planes into buildings full of innocent people in a Muslim country, killing thousands, you can forget about any hearings. Chances are, the members of that minority, including the innocents, wouldn't live long enough to protest their innocence, let alone be subject to any hearings.
Islam has a huge problem with the rising tide of violent and intolerant extremism within it. If you guys are the good Muslims and wish for peaceful co-existence, then you need to tackle this urgently and vigorously, instead of taking exception to every critical act/comment and yelling "anti-Islam bigotry" when non-Muslims object to the actions of your extremists.
A few notes...
by Mola Nasredeen on Wed Mar 09, 2011 08:47 AM PSTabout Congressman Peter King
and his views about Muslims in America:
"In 2004, King claimed in an interview that "no American Muslim leaders are cooperating in the war on terror," and that "80-85 percent of mosques in this country are controlled by Islamic fundamentalist. This is an enemy living amongst us."
"The Council on American-Islamic Relations denounced the comments as "Islamophobic bigotry and the Democratic National Committee chairman Terry McAuliffe called on President Bush to "condemn this latest example of hate-filled language"
Hatemongering Peter King believes "there are too many mosque in the United States"
So Soosan Khanoom, this is the bigot that 8 million American Muslims have to deal with. But he will have to confront a united front by the law abiding, peaceful, successful Muslim Americans.

Here is an interesting
by Mola Nasredeen on Tue Mar 08, 2011 10:15 PM PSTtake on why the hatemongers of the Republican party are staging their demonization of American Muslims:
"Scholars point to a rising level of activism and civic engagement among young Muslims in America, distinct from religious extremism. They see more volunteering on political campaigns, voter-registration drives outside mosques and interest in civil rights, in contrast to older generations whose primary concern was U.S. foreign policy.
The founders and leaders of mosques are the ones driving this civic participation, said Sally Howell, associate professor at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and author of several books and essays on Arabs and Muslims in Detroit. "Their main motives are to make sure that their children are becoming good Muslims but at the same time becoming good Americans," Associated Press report on Yahoo.com
And so the bigots and hatemongers are very upset, they would prefer if Muslims stays out of politics and civic participation.
Back to the topic ....................
by Soosan Khanoom on Tue Mar 08, 2011 09:37 PM PSTThe intent of this hearing is not to uncover any hidden truth. ............. seriously, does anyone really think representative Peter King's hearings will unearth information not already known to the intelligence agencies? .............. of course it won't.
This stunt will, however, generate even more racial and religious fear and hatred in a country that was once known for religious tolerance.............. men like Peter King would shred the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights in order to "save" America from U.S. citizens who follow the faith of Islam.
When asked about accusations by groups that he is a modern-day McCarthy........ King responded that he considers the attacks a " badge of honor."
This moron is too stupid to know that McCarthy was an embarassment to this country and even accused President Eisenhower of being a Communist.
Back in 1492, the Inquisitors considered attacks upon them as a "badge of honor", too..............
...... McCarthy chaired the House of un-American activities. ........ the current inquisition staged by Rep. King is exactly the same ....... an un-American activity. ...........It's a shameless display of religious bigotry and a shameful image to present to the Islamic world.
