I thought the mullahs had already done most of that.

The mullahs take away satellite, internet, free press, fun and politicall and social freedom and all human rights.  They bungle the economy.  They hog all the oil revenues for themselves and their political and security force allies, who are rewarded thereby for beating the people

What the mullahs don't steal for themselves or use to bribe their thugs is squandered on seminaries and scholarships that produce economically worthless degrees, a new generation of clerical oppressors and graduates who become ignorant obstacles to progress like  Ayatollah Kazem Sedighi

The world doesn't care if Iran produces peaceful energy but it has good reason to fear an aggressive, scheming mullah regime with nukes.   Iran would not need nukes defensively if Iran were a peaceful country rather than an enemy-maker constantly engaged in crimes against its own people and offensive behavior and covert schemes against the West and neighbor.

As for nukes when the regime is gone, the question to ponder is whether a peaceful Iran needs nukes in the absence of aggressive neighbors and whether acquiring them will be worth it considering it will certainly cause the Saudis to do the same.   Will Iranians feel safer at night without nukes than will them in that case?
