I don’t know what your point is. You have a picture of Kurds being executed by the IRI regime attached to your name and a poem that speaks of anger and loneliness. Are you angry and lonely? You better get it out of your system before it causes problems for you.

bahman_talish, don’t let the door...

by Omid Hast on

Feel sorry for yourself for returning to this site when you claim you rarely visit it, and you welcome for being reminded. When you leave to visit those “real Iranian sites” that are so much better than this one, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Explanation of "gooz cheh rabti daareh beh shaghigheh"

by Omid Hast on

It is being asked for an explanation of the relationship between flatulence (gooz) and temple (the flattened region on either side of the forehead in human beings)(shaghigheh).

Literary speaking, flatulence is the presence of a mixture of gases in the digestive tract of mammals, present in the feces (goh). When a person is filled with too much flatulent without releasing it in a timely manner, he/she tends to bow his/her head in agony and hold his temples with his hand.

When I see news of atrocities perpetrated by IRI regime, I tend to release my anger and frustration by creating something artful instead of bowing my head and holding my temples in my hand.

For explanation of why I wanted to get my point across in norooz the way I did, see JJ’s post.

Thank you for the explanation.

I think at least a couple of people down below think I’m disturbed.

Hi Omid,

All Cartoon titles begin with the name of the artist:
//iranian.com/main/cartoons

Everyone can see the title is the translation of what the molla is saying over the phone.

No one thinks you're a moron. It's a very powerful cartoon. I find it very appropriate that even on a happy occasion like Norooz we should remember those who have suffered and paid the ultimate price. You did what any honorable artist with a conscience would do.

On top of "Happy norooz!“ cartoon you have written {OMID: "Just wanted to wish you a Happy Norooz"} I never said such a thing. What you've quoted me saying makes me look like a disturbed person. As a journalist you should know better. What I wrote to you was that I made some suggestions for naming the cartoon and added "or you call it whatever you want". I didn’t ask you to make me look like a moron.  At least "Happy norooz!" would sound like it is coming from the mullah in the cartoon, not me.

So, please change the heading.

I had decided...

by Omid Hast on

I had decided not to respond to comments based on my last experience with some rude people, all of them unregistered anonymous users, before the new censorship policy was implemented, but now I'm going to give it another try to see how it goes. When I come back from work this afternoon I'm going to respond to all comments. What else is better to do on norooz Friday evening other than to spend it on explaining some of your concerns, especially the one about gooz and goh ?!

The Balancing Act

The Medicine of Being Alone

A
Man
Who
Is
Alone
In a barren desert
Searching ...
To find some green pastures
Can''t effort
To carry the heavy luggage''s of anger
So when the anger strikes in real life
Learn to visualize yourself
In that desert ...free ...and unglued and alone

Disgusting!

by Sad (not verified) on

What a tasteless cartoon for such a "happy" occasion! Why do we Iranians always have to mix gooz and shaghigheh to make a piece of goh out of it? If you want to get your point across, do it in a meaningful and appealing manner.
