در دوران میانسالی دچار توهماتی هستم که لازمه تحققشان نیروی جسمانی دوران پیش است
شوتها در 20 سالگی و حتا 30 سالگی هم، وقتی شلیک میشوند، مانند گلوله سوت میکشند، اما در حوالی 48 بیشتر در هوا پرسه میزنند. و در نزدیکی 60 سالگی تنها با آهی کوتاه از خیر همه چیز میگذرند. به همین دلیل میتوان به راحتی شمار افراد شرور و غیرقانونی را که هر تیم به نسبت بیکلاسیاش از آنها بهره میبرد، شناسائی نمود. مسابقهها از لس آنجلس باید به جای دیگری منتقل شوند چون انگیزهی بازیکنان برای باخت، با هر برد، بیشتر میشود: استراحت در سواحل جنوب کالیفرنیا + چلو کباب.

قلبی که فکر نمیکردم جای شکستن داشته باشه، شکست
با یک شکست تجاری آغاز شد. دنبالش برگشت به خونهای که مستأجرا دربو داغونش کرده بودن و انگار دیگه عشق ازش کوچ کرده بود. یک ماه نشده بود که خبر دلخراش مرگ تنها عمویم را دریافت کردم. عمویی که برام خیلی عزیز بود...خیلی. چهار ماه نشد که خبر خون ریزی مغزی مادرم از ایران اومد و رفتن اون به کما. مادر جراحی شد و همه چی تقریبا خوب پیش رفت. چهار ماه بد خبر تصادف شدید عزیز دیگری، دختر خواهرم...صورت زیبا و معصومش خورد شده بود...اونم به خیر گذشت، اگه بشه اسمشو گذاشت خیر!

A wine color silk fabric hanging on the back curtain with golden calligraphy of Omar Khayam’s poetry, hundreds of vines hanging from the ceiling all over the stage with a discrete lighting on each leaf and grape, candles surrounding the stage… Paradise on earth was the scenery of this Persian ballet called Omar Khayam presented at the majestic Palace of Fine Arts of San Francisco on September 12th 2009. The choreographer and dancer Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam was the Iranian poet and philosopher Omar Khayam himself traveling through time and space, both physically and by the spirit expressed in his movements

I want to argue that Iranian-Americans are mainly distancing themselves from Islam and in many cases leaving it as a coping strategy for dealing with the rise of Islamophobia and anti-Middle East sentiments in the United States. Iranian-Americans are dissociating themselves from Islam as a repositioning strategy to deal with the prejudices and suspicions which have been directed at them since 9/11. I am uninterested in writing a book that introduces Iranians to Western audiences, because I think the need is greater for Western audiences to be introduced to themselves. This is not as offensive a statement as it might seem. Any writer has to be interested in introducing his or her readers to themselves. I've always considered Reza Shah Pahlavi's 1935 decree requesting that the country formerly known as Persia be referred to as "Iran" by foreign governments with which it had diplomatic relations to be a mistake. Naturally, once governments began to refer to the country as Iran, their citizens followed suit. This change at once led to a severing in the Western consciousness of Iran from the Persian culture of classical antiquity, and also created a situation in which the name of the country can easily become confounded with that of its neighbour and recurrent rival, Iraq, a name which entered the mainstream vocabulary of Western languages only in 1932 with the founding of the Kingdom of Iraq in that year

خدایا مهدی کروبی چه می دید و چه می شنوید؟ یا للعجب؛ کاش او زنده نبود و نمی دید که روزی در جمهوری اسلامی شهروندی نزد او بیاید و شکوه کند که در ساختمانی بی نام و نشان، توسط افرادی بی نام و نشان تر،هر عمل قبیح و غیر معمولی بر او صورت گرفته است: از لخت و عریان کردن افراد و نشاندن آنها در مقابل یکدیگر تا فحاشی های وقیحانه و ادرار کردن در صورت آنها و رها کردن چشم و دست بسته دختران و پسران در بیابان. اینها کم نبود که خبر از تجاوز به دختران و پسران در بازداشتگاهها نیز رسید. با خود گفتم که سه دهه پس از انقلاب و دو دهه پس از فوت امام به راستی ما به کجا رسیده ایم؟
