Jasmin Darznik was born in Tehran and received her PhD in English literature from Princeton University. An award-winning essayist and short story writer, she has contributed to the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and numerous other publications. Her book, THE GOOD DAUGHTER: A Memoir of My Mother's Hidden Life, is forthcoming in January 2011 from Grand Central. She is a professor of English and creative writing at Washington and Lee University and has been a visiting professor of Iranian literature at the University of Virginia.
