Firstly, no other totalitarian system has incorporated such a high degree constitutionally codified democratic competition in the ruling order and in its ideology. Political competition is systematised in the form of regularly held elections in which rivals espouse different platforms within the framework of the agreed upon rules of the game, just as do political parties within capitalist frameworks. The difference between Democrats and Republicans in the US is not much greater than that between reformists and conservatives in Iran. Of course, these trends in Iran are not actual political parties, but then neither are the Republicans and Democrats, at least not in the conventional European sense. They are more in the nature of electoral leagues.

But what about the triumvirate, Abarmard???
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Sun Jul 19, 2009 12:57 PM PDTwho do you think Fred meant???
I'm serious. It's really got me wondering now and getting a straight answer from him is like pulling teeth...
This is interesting
by Abarmard on Sun Jul 19, 2009 12:49 PM PDTIn the most recent article by Hamid Dabshi he named many individuals that he agreed or disagreed with. i believe Mr. dabashi respects this person.
Any ways, with the bombardments of similar information, it's always good to see something different. Not only good but important.
David, Q, Abarmard, someone..help me..
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Sun Jul 19, 2009 12:07 PM PDTbecause I have a feeling if he answers me at all, it'll be another conondrum wrapped up in an engima wrapped up in a canoghli..
when he said Islamist wedding photographer, he meant ME, right???
I' 99% sure. I just want to get that additional 1% clarified.
lol
oh yeah, and ps, while i'm at it, do YOU know who he meant by triumvirate? surely not the father, the son and the holy ghost.
Fred, triumvirate.
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Sun Jul 19, 2009 12:59 PM PDTTriumviarate means three.
I could think of...
Mousavi and Khatami and Karroubi...
or...
on this thread well...Abarmard and Q..but then who would've been the third...I wasn't here yet at that time to be number three..and I hardly think you meant David...
so..
triumvirate referred to WHICH three?
as for 'wedding photographer', if i may be so bold as to grasp at straws, if you are referring to my avatar, I...
---
sorry Fred I had an explanation about the avatar but then I felt like writing this blog so I've deleted it so as not to let the cat out of the bag, as they say in French..
lol

Islamist wonderer
by Fred on Sun Jul 19, 2009 11:42 AM PDTIt seems the Islamist/Anti-Semites and their likeminded lefty allies including the Islamist wedding photographer have to convince the Iranian people of their views.
It also seems their “Islamic World” whatever or wherever it might be or for that matter their cutthroat Islamist brethrens have not been able to impose their “very popular view” on the Iranian people.
For those who still have a problem with reality or doubt its veracity should listen to the crystal clear chants of people inside Islamist occupied Iran last Friday.
Suspecions are all around us !
by duel on Sun Jul 19, 2009 11:35 AM PDTThe riots after election were too suspecious to be creditted to the well-informed and well-educated class that follows Moussavi. It is clear from this articles and the likes around that there was in fact a foriegn hand in that riot.
For example, we still see Reza Saya of CNN reporting riots in Iran and his evidence is some email he received "from inside iran"! There were riots in Israel over the meeting of some jews with Hamas, no word about it even though CNN has reporters there. There were riots in France, no word about them from CNN on those either. Who would you believe?
Thanks.
Help ME grasp at a straw, Fred..
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Sun Jul 19, 2009 11:30 AM PDTwhat triumvirate are you referring to?
Triumvirate means three. I know that.
What three people are you talking about?
I really don't know.
Fred, don't blow your top
by Q on Sun Jul 19, 2009 11:18 AM PDThe only carries with him the reputation of having been an Israeli citizen and a Knesset member.
This is a very popular view in the Middle EAst and the Islamic world and it won't go away by AIPAC opperatives wishing it away.
Grasping at straws
by Fred on Sun Jul 19, 2009 10:51 AM PDTThe more you know about the triumvirate the clearer it becomes that the only worst situation to be in than being an Islamist/Anti-Semite and their likeminded lefty ally is to be an Iranian one in waning days of life and seeing all your pipe dreams being ruined by the people of Iran.
Evidently from the comments to the Palestinian writer’s pro-Islamist cutthroats republic gibberish it is clear the triumvirate is not having much success elsewhere either.
typical pro-IR view
