I would VOTE
by AnonymousX (not verified) on Mon Jun 08, 2009 01:36 PM PDTbut only to "elect" the vaalie faghih and members of guardian council. Until then, all these votings are mechanisms to preserve the IRI regime and a "soopaap" to control the masses.
In fact, "freedom to elect vaalie faghih and members of guardian council" should be the shoar of opposition.
Have you noticed that "reformists" don't ever ask for this kind of votings?
Matin, don't you think I have a right to ask...
by Ostaad on Mon Jun 08, 2009 12:40 PM PDTwho will use the poll results, if someone is asking for my opinion?! I'm glad you are so generous and give your opinion to anyone who asks, I'm not.
BTW, did you answer the survey?

The President of Iran has no
by Dr.X (not verified) on Mon Jun 08, 2009 09:36 AM PDTThe President of Iran has no real executive power, he is just a figure. We all saw that eight years of Khatami, a reformist president, really had no impact on economic advancement, social freedoms, etc. Sure women were able to pull their chador back a little further and men could now wear short sleeve shirts. Maybe Iran's image in the international community was a little better, but thats about it. Khatami had no power and did not even stand up for those who were risking their necks for him. Why should I vote, to choose between bad, worse, and worst? No thanks

You who don't vote: You are
by Ramin43 (not verified) on Mon Jun 08, 2009 09:14 AM PDTYou who don't vote: You are waiting for somebody to show up out of the blue, wipe mollahs out of the country and replace them with angles. That will never happen. By not voting, you are basically agreeing with the current state of affairs. Voting for someone who is "a little" more open than the others and can move the country (even for a little) towards human values is still a choice.
You vote and you get Khatami, who created the "best" environment after the revolution. You don't vote and you get Ahmadi Nejad who has been the worst. I agree that they are powerless, but not completely and that little bit matters.
If you don't see the difference between Khatami and Ahmadi Nejad then you well the deserve the government that is in power (khalaayegh harche laayegh). Not voting mean you "agree" with whatever is in power. Voting means you use the little power that you have to select the "less bad" among them. This is still an step forward. Doing "nothing" when that does not change anything is not wise. This kind of protest does not get anywhere. If it was effective we should have seen the result after 30 years. You continue to protest and not vote and you get Ahmadi Nejad. Fare enough??

What for?
by farokh2000 on Mon Jun 08, 2009 07:34 AM PDTThey all take their orders from the Head Mullah and have no Executive power.
What is the use then?. Just to say you have elected a Powerless President?
If this were a real election, they would let people from diverse groups run, without screeining to make sure they would take orders from the Head Mullah, or bow to the Islamic rules.
Who are they to tell the people what Religion they should follow and what should be the Official Religion of the Country?
Hell with the criminal Mullahs and their supporters.

Improving Statistics!
by choghok on Mon Jun 08, 2009 12:39 AM PDTThere should be 2 sets of results, one exactly like it is now.
IBut also the result should be shown not counting the people who do not vote. In this way it can be compared to the result shown after the election since in no elections people absent are counted in the results.
Needless to say for having accurate results you should look into that each user can not vote twice and if you allow unregistered users to vote they should not be able to vote more than once either.
It would be very nice if you could show demographic too, what women vote on, what Iranians in Iran, Europe and NA vote on and so on.
It is worrying that as it is now Ahmadinejad is even on the second place in Iranian.com. His populist talks resulted even in gaining votes even here.
