What is too serious? / Persian Male
by Rosie T. on Sat Jan 19, 2008 10:52 AM PSTThere are many voices, we balance each other out, it's all one voice in the end. Jamshid's reply was WONDERFUL and I REALLY wish he'd blog it...and there's no such thing as too long...
Now, dear quiz masterr...yes you DID. You absolutely left out women, and this post is TOTALLY skewed toward men from beginning to end, and through and through. You use "Persian" to mean "Persian MAN" and you can rationalize it all you like but the "rhinoplasty" was at BEST tokenism to include women. Actually "my first Iranian lover" was a man with a nose job.....You're funny and witty and it's a funny post, so at least have enough sense of humor to see the irony in it...that the VERY FACT that you DID THIS and excluded women means you WON THE CAPTCHA CHALLENGE HANDS DOWN...Sad afarin...2 + 2 =YOU ARE A PERSIAN MALE And jj too, for not using the title "Are You a Persian Male?" when he posted it.....as I explained WAAAAAAAAAAY down on the thread in my first post here....and...um...directed JJ's attention to it, as I now direct yours to your own implicit chauvinism...not that it's bad, irrevocable...it just needs to be scrutiinized...it's your DENYING it when it's exposed by two women that it becomes problematic....just face it, laugh about it, assimilate what you learned from it, and it will go away....if you keep denying it, it will stay...this video quiz IS, not misogynistic, but MALE chauvinist, as odd as that distinction may seem...and there is NO getting around it, not even by circumambulating the black stone of the Qaaba...in drag.....
Majid I reposted the evidence
by Nadias on Fri Jan 18, 2008 06:15 PM PSTof my guilt. It was previously posted on Omid Hast cartoon "Day at the Beach". It was in response to a question by Omid Hast.
I guess some of us from time to time make very long posts. :o)

asking. I never ever go under anyone's name verified or nonverified (not even to prove a point). Lord knows I have enough with my own three registered accounts. It is why I really only deal with one.
Answer to deleted reply question:
Well, I think there can be a domino effect to the situation. For example, I attached my reply to your comment, then someone attaches their reply to mine and the process continues. If for whatever reason your posted comment gets deleted then Yes, I do believe the system would automatically delete a bunch of comments at one time. Remember it is only a machine. It cannot tell the difference between good posts and abusive ones. It will do what it was programmed to do. It is not subjective.
I will look into your other questions and reply back to you.
Registered users:
I also wanted to let other registered users know that once someone attaches their reply to your comment, you cannot edit your comment further. I got the following of the actual iranian.com in which it states
Comments can be edited by the author until someone replies to them, after which they cannot be altered.
I finally figured out why sometimes, I could not go back and change a comment of mine. It also means you cannot move up a comment you made up the thread once someone attaches their reply to yours.

PS: Yes, the unverified Omid Hast posted as you but notice he has a chicken avatar, his name is in black lettering and next to him says not verified. People have to question the identity from whence the source comes. Someone did the same thing to Kouroush Sassanian only they are being the light and not darkness. So everybody knows it is not the real KS.
Also, someone posed as me a couple of months ago as Sasha and they had my name in blue letters but next to my name was (not verified). They insulted Niki using my name. It was before we had avatars next to our comments. Also, before I posted any blogs. Now, the majority of people on this website know who I am, what I think and my writing style. They will think twice before they believe an imposter.
Sepaas Majid.......
by Nadias on Fri Jan 18, 2008 05:54 PM PSTon the Persian calendar information.
I must say I have come close to having my posted comment being as long as the article/blog in the past. I also had to learn proper netiquette. Guilty as charged. :o)
Since I am not Iranian, I must, I hope be forgiven within 24 hours at least if not sooner.
Iranian.com constitution. Very funny Jamshid. hahaha They barely have any rules written down, which is why people on the website don't understand the moderation rules when things get deleted.
Re: Majid
by jamshid on Fri Jan 18, 2008 06:02 PM PST1. Sorry to have your Iranian-bashing "party" pooped. My apologies.
2. Since when a response to an article or video or whatever else has to be a specific length relative to the main article itself? Is it in Koran? Is it in the Iranian.com constitution? Is it proper netiquette? Or is just a product of your imagination?
3. The reason why I "pooped" your party, is because I am sick and tired of Iranians being bashed by westerners, by those in none-shia moslem countries, for crying outloud, even by Indians and Koreans, whom all have made plenty of videos I have watched sterotyping Iranians. I am tired of seeing Iranians being sterotyped either as an ugly and dirty looking terrorist, or as a Mr. B-M-W soosool looking car dealer.
And now guess what? If everybody is invited and having fun in the Iranian-bashing "party", you would think, why not us Iranians also join the party frenzy and add some spice to it too? It's all for fun after all, isn't it?
I say let's sack the party instead. Enough is enough. There is a time for everything. I too would make fun of, say some of my cousin's behaviors, but not when he is lying down on his death bed in a hospital. Same goes with Iran.

by Majid on Fri Jan 18, 2008 05:30 PM PSTIf you write a comment here that is 182-1/2 times longer that the article itself !

by Majid on Fri Jan 18, 2008 04:09 PM PSTDo we have to take EVERYTHING as a matter Black or white ?
Are we sometimes forgetting there are hundreds of shades of gray in between?

by ArtooshKoochooloo (not verified) on Fri Jan 18, 2008 03:43 AM PSTI did one specially for Iranian ladies on YouTube. Do a search of 'Mr Iran' on YouTube.
Woewoewoe Mr Jamshid - Hold your horses!
by ArtooshKoochooloo (not verified) on Fri Jan 18, 2008 02:08 AM PSTFar too serious! And I did read your comment about' don't say it is only fun'
You are right about Iranian attributes and I appreciate it. Maybe I should do another vid. But bear in mind that not all Iranians possess all the characteristics that you've listed; otherwise we wouldn't have so many prisons and inmates for start. Anyway, notwithstanding that for a bit, one reason why we, the Iranian diaspora, make such videos is an attempt to humanise Iranians as seen by the Western countries. Although I live in the UK, I do follow the News as seen by the Americans. As you well know, there is currently a lot of anti-Iranian propaganda in the media. I do watch O’Reilly most nights! Their aim is to dehumanise Iran and all things Iranian. It is something that I am sure all Iranian abhor. YouTube is a media that is free to watch, it is seen by many regular people and it not being fully censored as yet. The purpose of this video and similar ones is firstly to bring a smile to the face of Iranians but more importantly it is to try to humanise us in the eye of the rest of the world. It is to show others that Iranians do have a sense of humour; we do make fun of ourselves and we are not all religious zealots that people like Sean Hanity would have the Americans believe.
And don't worry about Iranian ghayrat; it does not get undermined with trivialities such as this vid.
Here- see what you've done- I have started to take myself seriously now :)

by ArtooshKoochooloo (not verified) on Fri Jan 18, 2008 01:08 AM PSTThanks anti-nobody.
Dokhtar khoshgel is always a winner :)
But more seriously, like you say, there are many serious vids around but part of persianate is our sense of humour- that is one of the reasons why Iran was never colonised.
Here I have another one:
Do your relatives on visiting from Iran ask for discount whereever you take them shopping? Even at Marks & Spencer and Harods? (
Yes

Yes he did,
by Rosie T. on Thu Jan 17, 2008 11:43 PM PSThe actually apologized in two different places but the second one was clearer. Yes it is the real KS. It is like Michelangelo going to the quarry and selecting rock and getting a David out of it, he saidthe David is latent in the rock. but it's a LOT of work getting there, but yes it is the real KS....just don't expect him to be consistent. He WILL insult you again. Of that you can be sure. Just remember the apology and....deal with him the way one deals with a wayward child....tough love, carrot and stick....and...get a good night's sleep now, will you, Bella Durmienta?

by Nadias on Thu Jan 17, 2008 11:29 PM PSTan idea to have Jamshid's words buried on this thread?Come again, maybe it is the two Tylenol I took or maybe I am too sleepy.
I know that Jamshid could write good blogs and articles. I have seen his posted comments throughout the website.
I still don't know why he won't post any blogs or articles. He is a very good writer. He is way better than I am.

It is not an EXCELLENT IDEA...'cuz it's not an IDEA...
by Rosie T. on Thu Jan 17, 2008 11:16 PM PSTit is a FACT, a simple FACT, that this piece is at the LEAST a blog and better than many articles. The "idea" is that it should be buried HERE, THAT's an idea....a WEIRD idea....see what I mean?
Rosie T. and Jamshid...
by Nadias on Thu Jan 17, 2008 11:10 PM PSTI think it is an excellent idea. It actually touched me so much that I wept. My friends will tell you that I do my best to be the rock of Gibraltor.
However, what Jamshid wrote reminded me of some of the past and I wept. It was beautiful.
Seriously, I am not being sarcastic at this moment.

Jammy, you have a homework assignment...
by Rosie T. on Thu Jan 17, 2008 11:04 PM PSTOkay, first of all I want to tell you I did try calling you a couple of times but your message said you weren't receiving calls. The only favor I meant to ask you was to speak to me so...actually I am doing fine now and I already explained the situation by e-mail so there's no rush whatsoever to speak, but we should do it anyway...whenever....stay in touch.
Now for your homework assignment. YOU have to stop this bs'ing around. You have to take this beautiful thing you wrote and make it into a BLOG. It is RIDICULOUS to have it here under one of the items on the top of the home page which generally only stay there for ONE day. Hardly ANYONE will see it, and it's SOOOO GOOD!
You need to make a BRIEF introduction explaining SUCCINCTLY what motivated you to write it, and then just give it a draft or two more for editings, hardly needs anything, and then you click control c on it and you COPY it into create blog on your blog spot and then you have a blog. Let me know as soon as you do it and I'll tell jj to make sure it gets featured. (Well there's no "make sure" with jj, but I will tell him anyway, and he should do it...). Jammy....sigh....that's all I have to say. It's beautiful.......inspiring... javanmard... it's IMPORTANT!

by Nadias on Thu Jan 17, 2008 11:03 PM PSTYo le hubiera dado un zero desde el principio. Fuiste mas amable que yo. :o)
It is interesting to see the genders views of each other. The age old question what truly makes a man or woman? I think it varies from person to person.
We all have different needs, wants and desires in our lives further complicating matters.
I found the Women's Psychology class very interesting.....they did not offer a Man's Psychology class. What a shame, I think they also deserve to be understood.

by Nadias on Thu Jan 17, 2008 10:11 PM PSTIt reminded me of why I do volunteer work, and why I chose education as my profession. For the sake of the children, who did nothing but to be born into this world.
I am not upset with you, I just wanted you to realize that you were marginalizing me by stereotyping women based on misconstrued ideas. We are more than just a body, we have a mind and a soul.

Poem I found years ago.........
by Nadias on Thu Jan 17, 2008 10:22 PM PSTA couple of years ago, I came across the following poem and I saved it. What do you all think of it? Now, be objective with the comments now. I really wish I knew, who wrote it.
I believe that there are certain universal qualities in men, regardless of ethnic or religious beliefs. All men have the ability to be great men but their upbringing and environment can have a major impact on what their character is at the very core of their being. The same applies to women, of course.
Shall we focus on the men first?
Definition of a Real Man
One who has self-confidence
but does not show it.
One who can be courteous in the
face of discourtesy.
One who keeps his word, his temper
and his friends.
One who wins respect by being
respectable and respectful.
One who has a steady eye, a steady nerve,
a steady tongue and steady habits.
One who is silent when he has
nothing to say.
One who is calm when he
judges and humble when
he misjudges.

Anti-nobody....I prefer Jamshid's view of being
by Nadias on Thu Jan 17, 2008 09:40 PM PSTan Iranian to the one in the video. It is more down to earth. Some of the things he said remind me of my Dad.
My father moved to a country without knowing the language and brought with him his small family, worked very hard in the construction area to provide for his family. He did without a lot of material things for his family to have what they needed. He actually got injured at work and walks with a slight limp at times because of the injury from years ago. He did his best for his kids and I miss him (no he isn't dead, he just lives on the other side of Texas).
*****************************
I saw you changed your name again. Jeez, what is with you? Never mind, I really don't want to know.
Sorry, I did not like the video you posted....the women in your videos are sexual objects with very little clothes.I have already told you this on other threads. I prefer to focus on the intellectual aspect of things. Also, I don't go chasing men anywhere.

It's not funny at all
by jamshid on Thu Jan 17, 2008 09:14 PM PSTSince when a few imbecilic shallow Iranians who live in foreign countries define Iranian-ness? On the other hand, since when a few barbaric backwarded Iranians who are ruling in Iran define Iranian-ness? And since when any one of you pathetic clowns define Iranian-ness?
And don't tell me to calm down because it's all for fun. Bullshit. As Pahlevan Nayeb would say, zahi, na raahe pas, na raahe pish.
We all define "Iranian" by looking at our aquaintances and those around us. I too define "Iranian" by those whom I had the privilege of knowing:
You are an Iranian when you move from Iran to a foreign country with no money, no knowledge of the language and no one to help you, and years later, you are making more money and speaking the language better than the natives.
You are an Iranian when you switch to two shifts of work right here in the US for an entire year, because you took it to yourself to help the orphaned children of the Bam earthquake.
You are an Iranian when you leave Iran for a foreign country at an early pre-teen age, and yet you hang in to your culture and customs with your teeth and nails, and years later you speak better farsi or kurdish or azari and you know more poems than your hamvatans in Iran.
You are an Iranian when despite of all Iran's unfavorable domestic conditions and uncontrolled corruption, you stand by your "maraam" and principles, and gladly pay the price too.
You are an Iranian when you lost a limb in the war and despite of being abandoned by the very people who sent you to the war, you manage to limp your way though life with dignity.
You are an Iranian when after seeing a poor Iranian girl selling candies, your heart is filled with grief.
You are an Iranian when an aquaintance tells you "vow, what a nice watch you are wearing", you immediately take it off and give it to him.
You are an Iranian when you elevate the happiness of the woman you love, to becoming the purpose of your life.
You are an Iranian when you dismiss yourself entirely in favor of your children and work three shifts to bring food to their table.
You are an Iranian when you go to a restaurant and order a "makhsoos" to go, for the "roostaayi" boy who shine shoes in your neighborhood.
You are an Iranian when your heart is that of a "javoonmard" and years of one disaster after another have not changed that.
I don't think it's funny to consider one's shallow aquaintances as being a representation of "Iranian". How pathetic and sad. What happened to that once Iranian gheyrat and dignity?
