I don’t believe it!

I’m so thrilled I don’t know what to say!

I received confirmation today that one of my favorite musicians of all time, the great Faramarz Aslani, has agreed to be our main guest at the iranian.com fundraising event on April 25 in San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts.

Can you believe it? I can’t!

The first time I heard Aslani’s wonderful ballads was a decade and half after he became a phenomenon in Iran. When he came out with songs like “Ageh Yeh Rooz“, “Yaaram Koo“, “Del Aseereh” and… I was in high school in the U.S. and out of touch with Iranian music.

It was only when I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area that I noticed what I had missed. I would go to parties at the home of my Iranian friends and at some point people would start singing his ballads word for word by heart. Just a few months ago my good friend Shahrokh had his little music festival in Seattle and guess whose music was the most popular? Aslani! It just goes to show you the timeless quality of his large body of work.

And now he’s going to perform for iranian.com?! You have no idea how I feel inside… I’m all mushy and teary-eyed.

There’s more!

The wonderful and super talented composer/pianist Sahba Aminikia has graciously agreed to be the opening act of the evening. Have you heard his amazing “Pro Patria” based on “Ey Iran!” by Ruhollah Khaleqi? This man has a great future ahead of him.

So come on down on April 25 and enjoy a magnificent and memorable show. You will be greatly entertained and giving support to your favorite website. We will soon have ads and links where you can purchase your tickets.

But I’m not done! We have another wonderful surprise in store for you. I just can’t talk about it right now. Stay tuned :o)
