Mohammad Reza Shajarian (vocals), Hossein Alizadeh (tar), Kayhan Kalhor (kamancheh) and Homayoun Shajarian (tonbak and vocals) performed magnificently during their European and North American tour in 2000 and 2001. The main performance was Shajarian singing a poem by the late Mehdi Akhavan Sales. Also see Yari Ostovany's review.

“Rubaiyat-e Khayyam”, produced right around the time of the revolution, marked the first time I fell in love with traditional music. This is Mohammad Reza Shajarian at his very best. But there's more to this collection. Ahmad Shamlu's narration of Khayyam captures the very essense of his poetry. You can order this CD from Mahour.
