In Persian calligraphy, characters take on a life of their own. They twist and curl in magnificent forms, hiding within them a meaning that only those with the mind's eye can decipher.
The spiral ramp of Tehran's Museum of Contemporary Arts was the perfect place for an installation that makes a show of this calligraphy against a background peopled by stories. I have called this installation The Secret of Runes.
The Museum will open its doors to an exhibition called “New Art” this Tuesday October 1, 2002. See article in TehranAvenue.com:
