A love for making

I am currently living in Izmir, Turkey as a US Fulbright scholar. My time here is filled with adventure and discovery. As much as possible, I try to rid myself of preconceived notions and overly specific expectations, and to accept that I cannot control my surroundings. Living in Turkey has taught me to recognize and accept cultural differences, and to acclimate to a very different style of life. I very much appreciate my time here. While completing a Master’s Degree in Architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), I discovered a series of strategies for observation. I have a love for making, and I believe through making I am able to find a process which heightens my powers of observation, and ultimately generates a design or a concept. I spend much of my time here painting regularly in my sketchbook, a habit I have found to be very helpful in my work. It forces me to sit still and blend into my surroundings. Using the process of painting as an interpretive tool, I find that there is a distinctive relationship to architecture >>> ShadiWorks.com
