I’m happy to be here, and I hope you are, too.
I’m Wayne Willis, the Business Manager for Iranian.com. Jahanshah Javid, the Editor and Publisher of Iranian.com asked me join last summer, after we were introduced by some mutual friends. I have a long history in helping small companies grow, and Jahanshah wanted some help in developing the website and what it could provide to the readers.
In order to make the substantial investment in upgrading the site, we decided to incorporate the business as a Limited Liability Company (Iranian, LLC) and raise some capital from among ourselves and a few supporters who wanted to see the site provide more services to the community.
So, last fall, we organized the company and hired a software development team to help build a website we could be proud of. The twists and turns of a major software project is another story. I’m sure there will be a few bugs to iron out, but I’m also sure you’ll agree that this site is a substantial improvement.
Anyway, being involved for almost a year now has given me a renewed appreciation for the authors and contributors, for Jahanshah’s editorial leadership, for the support of our advertisers, for the loyalty of our readers and for the cultural continuity represented in the pages of Iranian.com.
I wasn’t ignorant of the Iranian expatriate community, having been on a management team with Kayvan Alikhani (now with Litescape Technologies) and having read House of Sand and Fog. (Big Smile — just kidding.) But I’ve come to appreciate you even more during this last year.
Like I said, I’m happy to be here.
