I don’t know about you, but I pride myself at being a law-abiding, useful member of society and certainly not a terrorist. I may have a little accent when I speak too fast or may be a shade darker the European-Americans who run this place, but I still get shocked whenever George Bush, Dick Cheney or Rupert Merdock calls me a terrorist.
I have tried to insulate myself from their unfair attacks, but I haven’t had much luck. To be honest, there are few places you can hide from these people. Turn on any TV or radio show, read any newspaper or magazine and you will see them or their minions making monsters out of me and my kind. What makes me furious is when I take my kids to a movie and see the character assassination of our race. How does that make my kids feel? Not very good indeed.
Am I a terrorist for having Iranian origins? Let us look back at the original sin. If I remember correctly, a bunch of Saudi, Pakistani, Egyptians and Jordanians carried out the 9/11 attack. But the Bush-Cheney-Merdock triad coddles this bunch with open arms. Kind words, enthusuastic praise and weapons deals are the norm when dealing with this collection of toughs but when it gets to us, well there is a whole different attitude. Saudi’s are nicy-nice business partners of Bush’s family and we are the lowest cast of terrorists.
Truth is that after decades of hostility, there has never been an Iranian implicated in any act of terrorism. As a matter of fact, Iranians have been subject to US terrorism themselves. Can anyone forget July 3rd 1988 when Will Rogers and the USS Vincennes killed 290 innocent Iran Air passengers in cold blood? Raygun Ronnie later said the Vincennes had taken “a proper defensive action” and called the incident an “understandable accident”. The air warfare coordinator on board, Lt. Cmdr. Scott Lustig, later received a commendation medal for his ability to “quickly and precisely complete the firing procedure”. Wow!
This was not the first time this type of thing has happened. If you listened to Preseident Chavez last year when he addressed the UN you must have heard him mention Luis Posada Carriles who lives right here among the self righteous. Except he is a convicted terrorist who blew up a Cuban Airliner years ago. How about Balkwater “civilian contractors” and CIA torturers who use legal methods under Bush’s executive order to terrorize innocents? They are not terrorists? Never mind…
I may look, sound and smell different than the pink-faced, sulfurous and ranting triad bosses I mentioned, but I am still a man. Borrowing a quote from no other that the Elephant Man himself “I am not an elephant” or a terrorist for that matter, “I am only a man!”
