History does repeats itself , but not often. We have the choice to be on the side of observing history or shaping it. Through out the history in face of adversity great leaders had a “creative genius” of using words to lead, inspire, and unite people:

“…we observe today not a victory of party, but a celebration of freedom – symbolizing an end, as well as a beginning – signifying renewal, as well as change…ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.” — Inaugural Address by John F. Kennedy – January 20th 1961
“…in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope… that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea — Yes. We. Can.” — Barack Obama. New Hampshire concession speech January 8th, 2008
When Bill Clinton made the famous “fairytale” remark and Hillary talked about false hope. Bill Bennett, former Secretary of Education called Obama’s message the American Dream. And indeed it’s the American dream. As Obama put it in his DNC 2004 speech:
“…let’s face it, my presence on this stage is pretty unlikely. My father was a foreign student, born and raised in a small village in Kenya. He grew up herding goats, went to school in a tin-roof shack. His father — my grandfather — was a cook, a domestic servant to the British….”
Toni Morrison, Noble Laureate recently coined the term, “creative genius” when she endorsed Obama. It was only a year ago when Obama announced his candidacy. What seemed like a long shot and tall wall to overcome. Running against the household name of Clinton that was billed as the inevitable candidate. With an uncommon and unheard name, it took all of his creative genius to forge a campaign against all odds to be in a position to surpass Clinton.
This improbable son of immigrant has done something that it was thought impossible. To bring people from both side of isles, ardent republicans the likes of the Susan Eisenhower who recently pledged in a Washington Post op-ed to step outside of her party, “this lifelong Republican will work to get him elected”. To pass gender issues and have 100 of the top feminist leaders in the country to support him over Clinton. He has the ability to united people of all creeds, to energize and motivate the traditionally apathetic youngsters to believe in themselves in a ways that he brought so many voters that was enough to defeat the republicans in a state that has been a red state in the last presidential elections.
Is this a fairytale? I chose to believe not. I call it the American Dream. the same dream that brought us, you and I, to the shores of this land. The hope of a greater future. The confidence of the “Yes we can” spirit, the dream of better opportunities and achievements that were not even given to us in our own ancestral land.
Let’s vote for hope, for our dreams, and for the story that is as much about us as it’s about America. Let’s make history. Vote Obama.
PS. if you are in CA and our undeclared, you need to ask for a Democratic ballot if you want to vote for Obma. And remember this is not a winner take all race for Democrats. So your vote really counts and it could make the difference in your district to give that delegate to Obama.
