Pouya Afshar is born and raised in Tehran-Iran in 1984. He is a CalArts alumni in Film/Video’s Character Animation department. Pouya is currently a graduate student at UCLA’s Film/TV department focusing in Animation and Visual Effects as well as teaching creative thinking and visualization for CalArts’ Community Arts Partnership. These drawings are a series of studies based on traditional Persian miniature through human figure exploring its boundaries and limitations. It is where two dimensional Persian miniature’s delicacy of color and design meets the rough mass and depth of human figure and makes a human like landscape.
