Most recent trip to Iran: Observations.

Some passing observations about my most recent trip to Iran:

(1) Install escalators in Tehran’s subways…how are the aged and invalid (and plain tired) supposed to go up and down those long flight of stairs? While you are at it, add more wagons to each train to reduce the crushing number of passengers at rush hour.

(2) Install stamp-vending and form-vending machines in post offices, so people do not have to wait forever just to get a clerk to sell them stamps and forms.

(3) Does the word “catalytic converter” and “smog check” mean anything to Tehran’s authorities? If you did something serious to reduce pollution, more people might bother to come back and visit Tehran/Iran instead of being in a hurry to leave just to get a breath of clean air.

(4) For heaven’s sake, make an effort to have clean public sanitary facilities in more places and consider that many people just are not comfortable using the “squat” variety and require the “seated” variety.

(5) Provide more venues for Friday’s congregational prayers than just the one at Tehran University, and make sure you have more heaters to keep worshippers warm in the cold of winter.

(6) IKIA airport is way too far from Tehran…how do you propose making the ride to and from there easier and faster?
