Seriously???!!! How doesn’t the news anchor burst out in tears of laughter?!!! McCain’s audacity and imperial hubris are at times truly astonishing. Chomsky clearly hit the mark when he stated that amongst much of the American policy elite the ‘imperial mentality’ is so deeply ingrained that they’ve become congenitally incapable of understanding the predatory colonialism they advocate, or why people i.e. much of the American public at home, Afghans and Iraqis abroad, object to it. They operate on the assumption that the US owns the world and from that premise go on to wreak havoc, leaving death and devastation in their wake. This is the intrinsic logic of any such world-view and it is one against which we must forever remain vigilant.
