The Untouchables was a very popular TV series that also aired on Iranian Channel One TV. It starred Robert Stack in the title role as Elliot Ness the uncorruptable inspector who ultimately arrested the much feared Al Capone. I was always terrified as a kid in Shiraz by these series which aired late in the evening. It was a favorite of my father and older brother who were fans of gangster movies. What I remember as frightening was the sporadic attacks of the Mafia which would gun down citizens in the street as their cars would break into the city. Thanks for us Elliot Ness and his faithful deputies would save the day and Always WIN. Another wonderful aspect in these series were the characters including the gangsters and the supporting roles who had strange and enigmatic faces that you would never forget and notice from one episode to another. The Cool thing about Ness and his team was that they feared no one and the gangsters appeared as the real cowards each time. I never liked the Remake directed by De Palma with Kevin Costner in the title role.
Robert Stack was truly the One and Only Elliot Ness:
