Iranian DNA is such that majority of Iranians cannot deal with democracy, esppecially when sourrounded by other Iranians. We respond well to “toosari” individually and oppression collectively. I am not sure how we have gotten to this point.
Just the same way Americans are very good at ignoring the “pink elephant” in the room, so are we; for 30 years a large percentage of the Iranian people have been living a lie. Why? Women go out with chador, maanto & maghnaeh, but wear mini skirt and low cut dresses in parties, in front of men who are not mahram. Maybe not in payeen shahr but for sure north of khiyaboon aryamehre sabegh.
For 30 years, men pretend to follow Islamic law; but inside their home, they guzzle vodka, Whisky and Beer like its water; hell, vodka is kept in samavar and served in outdoor picnics.
A great majority of Iranians believe religion, especially Islam needs to be kept out of politics but they go on with the charade of being a devout Muslim.

When are the Iranians going to remove the first I from IRI ?! All this talk about evolutionary change in Iran is bull crap because it will either never happen or it will take another 30 years during which all the Iranian wealth will have been stolen by these filthy akhoonds. Only a revolution can toss out Islam and bring out true democracy and secularism.
