As I was walking down the street
A certain Friday night…
I felt a strange dampness in the air.
Amid the oppressiveness all around,
With this delayed spring that just won’t come…
I remembered you.
I relived those silly games,
And the stupid things we said.
We were funny to the bone.
Your appetizingly logical wit,
Was almost as rambunctious as me,
And well prepared to catch my laughs.
I remembered how good it felt
To be oh so very, very bad
The irresponsibility of it all!
These thoughts were in my head
And I gave my lips a bite
I sort of felt shy
As I walked down the street
Cougar-like looking for prey
That damn Friday night.
