Canadian embassy in Tehran denying visas to two dissidents

Ms. Susan Scarlet
Immigration and Citizenship Section
Canada Embassy
Tehran

Dear Ms. Scarlet,

I am writing to you to request to have your comments on denial of entry visas to two prominent Iranian dissidents: scholar and writer Mr. Reza Alijani and women’s rights activist Ms. Shadi Sadr. They were invited to attend an international research conference at York University.

Meanwhile you have granted a visa to the I.R.I. Vice President.

The rejection of the visas for theses dissents along with Mr. Hassan Yousfei Eshkevari, is disappointing us as Canadian Iranian journalists who enjoy every single day of our lives IN A FREE SOCIETY.  Canadian principals for human rights and democracy are non-political issues. In last 100 years, Toronto and Canada have been a safe place for the writers who have prosecuted abroad — from Irish descents to Iranian.

Thank you for your time to respond.

Yours truly,
