What a difference a date makes: 1979 vs 2009

I recently discovered letters I sent home to Ohio when I taught at Isfahan University during the Islamic Revolution. I’ve been reading them, and noting the very disturbing similarity between what was happening then, and what is happening now. (I’m posting them on my “Blogistan”: karimadianealaviblog.com ) But- due to frequent postal worker strikes, my letters often took an entire month to reach my parents in Ohio. Their reply, of course, took at least a couple of weeks to arrive, so we were looking at a six-week turnaround at times! Sure wish we had Youtube, twitter, and e-mail at the time; perhaps fewer people would have been forced to pay for their political passion with their lives. May God protect and bless those people on both sides now, and bring them His peace and grace!
