I don’t know why I read Iranian Newspapers, especially Etelaat online and get upset and angry. No I am not a masochist but may be because I like to see how much crap the media is selling daily to the people. Today August 6, 2009, I read an article in Etelaat on the front page saying that the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of Iran according to the Economist newspaper will be doubled in year 1392, I guess in 5 years.
هفتهنامه اکونوميست در تازهترين گزارش درباره اقتصاد ايران اعلام کرد : توليد ناخالص داخلي ايران تا سال 1392 دو برابر ميشود
So I went to the Economist website and this is what I found:
* We forecast that Iran’s real GDP growth will slow to just 0.5% in fiscal year 2009/10 (March 21st-March 20th), as a result of the marked slowdown in the global economy. We expect real GDP growth to recover to 2.9% in 2010/11.
* Average consumer price inflation is expected to decline over the forecast period, from 25.5% in 2008 to 19.1% in 2009 and 16.5% in 2010, owing to a sharp drop in international oil and non-oil commodity prices.
I don’t see any doubling up in Iran GDP, do you?
One would wonder if they ever tell the truth…
