There are many fine Iranian sites worth mentioning. But I rarely get the urge to do so.
If I’m not mistalken, the last time I recommended an Iranian site was berimfaza.com, the now-defunct portal for home-made Iranian sex videos. It was so outrageous, so out there, I had to write about it.
This time, it has nothing to do with sex. It’s all about love — love for music.
I’m just in love with RadioMardom.com. It has 35,000 (that number is not a typo) Iranian music files from the oldest to the newest, which you can search and request to play on the interactive radio player. All for free.
There’s even a special ap which allows you to listen on your Nokia.
What makes this site so wonderful is not just its vast library. That alone should make you an instant fan. But there’s more to it than that. It’s highly professional and beautifully designed.
Radio Mardom is Hossein Setareh’s baby. He started it just over a year ago and maintains it all by himself. It’s his labor of love. And what he has done is just amazing. Looking for a “natioal treasure”? In my book, this is it.
Hossein has been my host in London for past couple of nights and I’m learing more and more about the radio. He has video player too, which I have installed in the Stuff section on iranian.com’s front page. It streams music videos automatically, or from an on-demand list.
