President Mugabe has congratulated Islamic Republic of Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for winning the recent elections in his country and blasted the West for funding post-election disturbances in a bid to discredit the poll outcome.
In a meeting with visiting Iranian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Mohammad Reza Bagheri at Zimbabwe House yesterday, the Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces said Western interference had led to the disturbances.
“We are aware of the outside world, the imperialist world, who never accept our ways of doing things.
“They are always finding ways and means of creating disturbances. We saw what they were doing but we are happy the situation is now under control and President Ahmadinejad has been sworn-in,” he said.
