BURTON’s HOUR: Burton’s Last Call (Equus on Broadway)

Along with Orson Welles, Richard Burton is probably one of my favorite actors whose personality transcends his larger than life roles. Here is a great monologue by stage actor George Telfer playing Burton in Burton’s Last Call in which Richard Burton talks before his first night in the Broadway production of Equus, in this excerpt from his one-man play, Burton’s Last Call. Filmed in Salford Quays at DV2Broadcast

In July 1980, Richard Burton appeared on the Dick Cavett Show. Here, a clip of him discussing the glories of mining in Wales — in the miners’ eyes. It is, improbably, one of the most beautiful monologues on the dignity of labor ever recorded.
