Sedaa am

There was a community of Zoroastrian Parsees in India, probably Mumbia. They made a maginifcent viedo tribute to Iran. It was up on the top of the homepage last week. It had to be seen full screen to be understood. It was inspired by Neda. I’m going to write again to try to describe it. I went to their youtube site and you cold see it full screen and so I posted that link. There were a few people there who had said it was beautiful That’s pretty much all they  had said.

The people here had been highly critical, as well as theoretical. She wrote a blog yesterday, Maya, the gril who’d been behind the whole project. She was very hurt and very angry. She swaid we were ‘unfair’ to criticize the Zoroastrian Parses. She tried to explain what the video actually meant and how hard it was to make and how important their heritage was to you, she felt, and you to her. She vented. She said they’d never come back and never make another video about Iran. Several of us made peace in so many different ways. We understood she was just so young and that she came from such a rariified controlled community, so ancient, so traditional, and she didn’t understand the nonsense that goes on here, and so she wrote a bunch of nonsense.

So we reached out to her and her uncle said that the community accepted. (Can you imagine a world in which such decisoions are promptly made by an organized community? And yet these people are so much your ancestors). Her uncle told us they love you and will never ever leave you. They thought this goddam website is Iran. For some reason people from here started criticizing and arguing again. ‘You guys’, she’d called you. Well what do you mean, you guys, who are we guys, bla bla bla. The usual hermeneutics of garbage. The myopia that’s torn your country apart.

Then a crazy person came and people were like well I won’t flag you because of free speech. Threats of violence, the most foul language imaginable, racist slurs, the most insane conspiracy theories…not directed TOWARD them but toward every non-minorty (they claimed to be Armenian) Iranian on god’s earth. I was a Basij. Can you imagine? Well, so I flagged. But hours later the six insane vicious posts were still there and people still nitpicking and arguing and me trying to make peace and probably making the whole thing just look more agonizoing because more protracted. And the crazy guy undeleted. And then the Mrs. came and told them she’d seen bits of the video and not read any posts but it wyou said you’re welcome toas as stupid video for Iran. I don’t mind mentioning the Mrs. to you, She is so proud to be mean. She will like it if she reads this. And you, the one you said you’re welcome to so nicely by leturing him bombastically about god knows what after he thinked you so profusely for fgiving them the Ferdowsi poem. And you. I’m sure the Parsees of Mumbai appreaciated Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds in the original Avestan with your mini-lecture on hypocrisy because the girl’s hurt blog with the graphic of the broken heart had all these RIDICULOUS juvenile statements about bullshit because she’s young and irrational and hurt. Way to go. I’m sure you made her reasonable with your Avestan reprimands.

My computer conked out for a while. It’s very emotional and sensitive. And when I got it to work aain the blog was gone. And so I went into their account and there was no contact button and they’d deleted the original submission as well as the blo. And so I went back to youtube to tell them I’m so sorry, please, don’t get discouraged. But they’d deleted that too. Maya’s youtube account was gone.

I wanted to give you the original video of the song they used for their own video as a tribute to them and a desperate attempt to speak on their behalf. They had originally provided the written lyrics to the song but still people hadn’t gotten the connection between their ancient community that had fled and Neda and Iran. I can’t understand how someone (who is not, say, a radical Islamist) cannot understand this.

Well anyway I’m posting the original video from Celtic Woman here. At least it has the fires in the background.

You two, you two dear friends and colleagues and collaborators of mine here. You, the one I asked to go to the thread. After the rest of us had given the olive branch, Maya’s uncle said “We love you. We will never leave you. We will never give up on Iran.” So they say things like Aryan. Racism. I know, I know, you. You told me already. It’s the WORST evil on God’s earth. You are racist because you told us you have blond hair and green eyes as well as were born in England and don’t wear a sari. I know, I know. You are right. Your version of what ‘racism’ is is the worst thing that ever is or could be. There are no other evils And you are not capable of any of them.

Well…they’ve deleted the video from youtube. I hope you’re happy now. The girl who put the graphic of the broken heart with a bandaid and a patch and a big crack down the middle. You taught her all about injustice. And you who I know so well and ASkED you to come, and you ruined (oh sorry, purified) the peace we’d worked so hard to achieve on that thread…I wish to hell I’d never e-mailed you to go there. Oh sorry, I’m so glad I did. It made the world so much better. And it made the looney tune feel right at home among the venom. You were right. You did good.

You know everything.

The Voice by Celtic Woman. A gift from the descendents of one VERY important ancient group of your ancestors. In permanent exile:
