So, what was it like?

Hello.

My name is Brian and I’m a writer in Wichita, KS.  I used to live in California, but have found myself out here, an expatriate in my own country I suppose.

Anyways, the reason for the email is that I am writing a book in which one of the characters is from Iran.  I would like to know if anyone would be willing to share with me the story of how they came to the United States.  Particularly if it was about the time of the Revolution back in the late 70’s – early 80’s, especially if you were of a young age.  Was it easy or difficult?  What were the emotions?  What was it like coming to the US?  You know, all that info.  I’m also interested in visual descriptions of certain things that are still remembered after all these years.   I ask this because, yes, I saw the movie Persopolis when it came out; it was quite good but the reality of it was it was just one persons interpretation of her experience.  I really don’t want to rehash that or conjure up something that’s unrealistic.

I hope this doesn’t sound like a tall order.  I’m not out to trivialize anyone’s experience but I’ve found that Experience is often more interesting than the imagination at times.

I hope this finds you all well and in good health.  If interested, you may contact me at the email address bwinters64@hotmail.com as I’d probably want to ask a few things.

Thank you sincerely,

Brian
