The entry for hero in Wikipedia defines it as:
“characters who, in the face of danger and adversity or from a position of weakness, display courage and the will for self sacrifice – that is, heroism – for some greater good, originally of martial courage or excellence but extended to more general moral excellence.”
If one could be jaded enough, story of Reza is not that different than many other victims of rape by the officials of the IRR, the Islamist Rapist Republic. What sets Reza’s case aside is that while knowing he is powerless in facing the IRR goons, has the courage to overcome his physical/psychological pain, sacrifice his anninimity and risk more savagery at the hands of the IRR officials just for the greter good.
According to news reports Reza has become the first Iranian man, most probably still a teenager, who has step forward with his story. He has subjected himself to medical rape examination and brutal accusatory interrogations by the very same IRR which has raped him.
Any way one looks at it Reza fits the difinitio of hero to the T.
