Prague, Aug 26 (CTK) – The Czech Industry and Trade Ministry last year banned the sale of pepper sprays and electroshock weapons to Iran, the ministry has said on its website.
For the first time the ministry used its new power not to allow export of goods which could be used as instruments of torture, capital punishment or other cruel treatment. A new law that regulates exports of such products was passed in the Czech Republic last year.
Czech exporters submitted 12 applications for permits to export such goods last year and 11 permits have been granted, the ministry says.
