I did not know anything about Flying Solo; but a blessing in disguise gave me the honour of knowing her. Now I know many things about her; Now I can see her anywhere; in my old days, in my days of pride, in my days of pain, defeat and sorrow; now she is visible to me even in the darkest places of my memories- bitter and sweet. I did not know anything about Flying Solo; but now I can hear her steps, coming closer to me; coming from a long distance, coming from my ruined city, coming from my long-forgotten land of civilization and cogency. Now I can see her running in the alleyways of a remote village to gather her numerous children before the dark night and its horrible aliens take over. Now I can see her, gazing at sky to see the traces of God. Now, I can see her, making a remedy for the old wounds of her beautiful daughters and her handsome and modest boys; now I can see her, shedding tears for the gone-with-the wind hopes and desires of her children. I did not know anything about Flying Solo; but now I can see her, coming to encourage us; now I can see her as the herald of hope and inspiration.
A few days ago I wrote a blog about the comments and deletion on this site. In a short amount of time I received a remarkable number of comments on my post. Comments were mostly useful; but the most interesting thing for me within those comments was a name(Solo) that was mentioned many times; so it made me curious about that name and then I saw myself sunk in the richness of a short article on Solo’s blog. ” Raw at Red rock” this short piece of work, seemed to me as lengthy as our history, as rich as our forgotten culture. I read years of history, culture and literature within Solo’s short article. I saw Mahmud Dollatabadi in Solo’s crisp exact and musical use of Farsi. I saw all the elite figures of our literature as the Solo’s guests in that short piece of work. And above all, I found Solo’s soul so rich and elevated.
To all my dear friends on this site and to all my dear compatriots in Iran and anywhere else, I have to say, let’s we find our Solos, let’s we know our Solos, let’s we respect our Solos as in this crucial period we are in need of our Solos. This time our alien enemies are too strong and relentless; so we need to be inspired and charged by people like Solo who have such amazing abilities to observe and interpret human desires and struggles. How many Solos do we have? Surely not too many; so let’s appreciate their talents.Let’s respect them.
And to dear Solo and people alike, I may be allowed to say that you are in fact indebted to the gifted and pure love for your land and your people; therefore you should be a little bit stronger and try to bear with mediocre-minded people like me. So, go ahead, write and encourage the thirsty youths for freedom and dignity.
