As a doctoral student of History in India, I have had the chance of travelling extensively across India and Nepal over the last few years. These images represent some of the impressions India has made on me, and were taken in New Delhi, Agra and Kolkata in India, and Kathmandu, Pokhara and Bhaktapur in Nepal. My photographs are an exploration into the chronic and essential aloneness of peopel living on the fringes of crowded cities and the teeming multitude. I have tried to show people on the margins through images rather than words. These are images of people at work, rest, and play. The series starts with ‘Bus View’, which is my entry point into the city. It ends with ‘Dreamscape’, the only photo in colour, which brings us back to the world of colour. — Mehrdad Ramezannia 12 next › last »
